Have you tried looking on the inside part of the vacchetta leather, where the straps join the bag with its hardware?

For saumur bag, does it always the code in small leather tag or it could be printed in the leather?

Do you know if 1984 is early 80s or mid 80s? Considering it makes s difference in whether it's numbers only or numbers and letters. Thanks!
@OPAVINTAGE4 жыл бұрын
I would say early 80s. It is my knowledge that during that period lettering sometimes was even printed separately from the 3 digits, and I am also quite sure that initial lettering application was irregular during the first years, this is why it is difficult to have an absolute certainly about the exact year start of the procedure. Anyhow, we have created a "DATECODE READER" which is free of charge, and was made for all of us to easily and quickly spot year and country of production: datecode.ophertyciocci.com/.

Hi, I have this LV saint cloud monogram, but it doesn't have a code. I have read some articles that some of saint cloud vintage doesn't have a code before.
@OPAVINTAGE3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joanne. I think this could be... even through on classic monogram vintage Saint Cloud's, data code is imprinted on the tan leather, near one of the top corners on the inside... and it is difficult to spot. I have here in front of me a 3 digit code with a V.I. ending., which is a few steps later than the ones with no code. I would definitely reccomend to authenticate it with a 3rd party international authenticator, this would give much more value to your vintage bag!

I obtained a used Louis Vuitton but it bears the “custom order” date code “AAS” followed by a 5 digit numerical code, any ideas?
@OPAVINTAGE3 жыл бұрын
I always suggest to have bags verified through third party authenticators. Code reader gives only a rough idea, but is definitely not enough to give confidence with regards to authentication. You can contact us from our store homepage, we will be happy to suggest some professional authenticators we have worked, and work with.

I have a bag and use to have some wallets and smaller purses that my grandfather brought home from the dump he worked at back in the late 80’s . Everything looks authentic but on the inside the date label was cut out in almost an exact half circle shape. Don’t know if it’s real…

@@OPAVINTAGE can I ask your professional opinion. I’m about to buy a second hand bags for my misses with the following code .V. I 872. I also noticed that the brass button on the identity tag isn’t stamped with Louis Vuitton. I know it’s early 80s but from what I’ve read plus your video, all buttons are stamped. Can you confirm Thank you

@@JustAnotherReviewwithAlek why don't you ask the seller to provide a certificate of authenticity from a third party professional authentication service? All sellers should now provide such service, paid or free of charge. In this way you would definitely be safer...

@@filigreez Could be a discountinued model which started back in the 80s and then was reissued in the later years. For this kind of answer, your best bet would be Louis Vuitton direct.

Does that mean that if the bag doesnt have a code it is considered fake?
@OPAVINTAGE3 жыл бұрын
No. We've tried to explain this in every post; I always suggest to make your considerations as a whole, and not by only focusing on 1 detail. If you want more certainty, you may need to ask for professional authentication. There are a lot of services which do that. We offer third party authentications but only for the bags we sell.

The first bag would not be accepted pawnshops in the philippines they say its fade .signs of usage what u don't accept used they say no its just to fade like you cant clean it their were also other customer who has omega watch they rejected it because they say they don't accept that kind of series anymore it really destroys the name of luxury brands that it is a investment to buy one it degrades its name

@@OPAVINTAGE Lol. I know its just a bag, and I am NOT returning it so if I got duped, oh well. I just wish I knew the date of the bag. The grommets look old and are slightly oxidizing because they look like they are made of brass. So, there is a slight amount of green around some of the grommets.
