I first learned about Anne Lamott in 2010 while sitting next to a woman on a plane who was reading Bird by Bird. I asked her about the title of the book and we talked for the rest of the flight from Washington, DC to Phoenix about the book. I have been a fan of Anne Lamott's writing ever since.

Anne Lamott is my hands down favorite author. Like probably everyone else who reads her, I feel she is speaking to me alone. What a gift she has to connect with the best, the worst, the hopeful, the despondent, the child, the adult, the critic, the consoler, the laugher and the cryer in each of us. An amazing, amazing gift to Humanity. Happy Birthday Annie, and thank you.

Love that she said “groked” each other. Reference to the book stranger and a strange land. I think about that book a lot. Robert Heinen.

Traveling Mercies was a life changer for me, when i was struggling with making the faith of my parents and up bringing, my own. I had fought Christianity for years, but, thank you. Anne, for being an important link in the chain of God's amazing Grace that brought me to my knees, in awe and wonder. Your honesty spoke His words directly to my heart. We are blessed by your existence.

Anne, I'm 70 year old women. While playing internet Scrabble yesterday I had to tell my opponent what a handsome man he is. I had to follow with an explanation that I'm 70 year old woman and I can say things like that now. Not something I could have said a year ago. I'm learning to enjoy the ride 😃
