I tried sleeping in a hammock after reading an article that it could help with anxiety, and even mentioned people with autism due to the calming effect of the rocking and the way the hammock wraps around the body. NOT the crappy spreader hammock, but like a real hammock. I have now been sleeping in a hammock for 5 years straight. It's amazing.

I sleep on a Lazy-boy recliner. My sleep is so heavenly in it, and I rarely feel back pain from it. I have ASD (Apsergers) and FMS (Fybromyalgia), I'm overweight, and likely have sleep apnea (cant use a re-breather as it would keep me awake). I also have a hip that dislocates if I relax without support to my sides. I am need of a new recliner for sleeping, and hope to get one soon. Downsides to recliners is that it is very expensive. It can break down in a few years, as the metal bends, and one is poking through the side of the seat (had to add a small pillow to make it not poke me). If I sleep with my legs in a certain position, the leg rests can hurt. I have to get ones that are super soft, and have a smooth texture, preferably the slightly fuzzy leather (not squeaky slick leather, nor knitted fabric). I also have a standard spring mattress in my home that I hardly ever sleep on. On mattresses, my hip get so sore if I sleep on my side (I have so much weight that needs supported). My back and butt hurts if I sleep on my back. Also, my nose stuffs up when I sleep on couches or other horizontal sleeping furniture. Stuffy nose makes it additionally hard to sleep, and takes too long to recover from that in the morning, so I need to sleep with my head above the rest of me.

Wait your a dad?! That s so amazing! If you haven't noticed I'm really excited, do you want to share about your baby/child? How is it being a dad and having aspergers. I'm Alex I'm 17yo and I have always known that I want kids someday, I also have autism. I think you'll be an amazing dad, and your kid is really lucky to have you as his/her dad. Does your child something cause a sensory overload? Bye bye from Alex I love your videos they really help me.

Though yeah... overload does happen (helps a lot to have a great bond with my wife), but honestly - I feel like the more I bond with my 1 year old the more I understand myself. Also as a person with Aspergers. I think mostly because the love I feel for my child is the biggest drive I’ve ever had to manage it all. I was alway the same as you, wanted children more than a lot of girls I met. It was all worth it making decisions to reach that goal for me and that does start with learning to trusting yourself and the baby’s mom. 🙏🏼

As an autistic adult that works for a high end bed maker, I can honestly tell you that your mattress choice is dependent on your body type (support and posture) as well as your personal preference. Foam normally contains nasty chemicals and has a tendency to soak up your own nastys too. That said, Simba are at the top end of rollpack mattresses and are far superior to the likes of low end pocket sprung units. Advice: test mattresses in store and speak to a knowledgable sales assistant regarding your needs. Best of luck :)

Ok so did you test melatonin and the mattress at the same time? If so that could skew results. Now I'm not discounting memory foam. Memory foam is amazing. Still have temperpedic. LOL
@MajorKlanga5 жыл бұрын
I tried a memory foam mattress a few years ago and it was horrible. You'd sink into it but then if you moved you'd have a depression moulded by you that no longer fitted your new position and so it felt lumpy all the time. I went back to an Ikea mattress which isn't great but as I've got an Ikea sized bed frame it was the easiest way to go.

Can you explain in a video about blue and white light and why it makes it difficult for autistics to sleep?
@TheAspieWorld6 жыл бұрын
Hmm maybe.
@MarcelNL5 жыл бұрын
Blue and white light is bad for anyone in the evening. Instal F.Lux on your computer and mobile. (And try using them as little as possible in the evening.) Also don't use your mobile in the bedroom or watch tv in bed. The bedroom is meant for 2 things only. (Yeah you know which things.) If you do other things in there, you get used to being active in there. And of course one of the 2 things that the bedroom is for of course also is something that makes you active, but afterwards you usually rest again, haha!

I'm from the u.S.A. That mattress says it's from the UK. That would be very expensive to ship internationally. Not only that i would have to figure out how US Dollars convert to UK Pounds. It does take Paypal, but I like to know where my money is going. Is there a U.S.A. equivalent I could try that comes in a Full XL? This is the size mattress i ultimately want to buy. It is 54 inches wide by 80 inches long.

I can't speak for aspies since my diagnostic isn't final yet, but in my expirience I need a very, very hard matress. For the first few days it feels like a pain, GOOD pain, but still some pain. After that it's just heavenly. Also, since I've started wearing noise canceling headphones at night it has become even better. Fun Fact; Light doesn't bother me at all at that state - day light or led light, I just don't care anymore.

I gave up on getting good sleep decades ago. My needs change pretty much daily so there is no single mattress that works for me One day i need soft and the next day i need super firm. I found I'm mostly biphasic you so i just go to bed when i get tired and get up when my body and brain tell me I'm awake Generally i get about 6 hours of actual sleep a day irrespective as to how much time I actually spend in bed. I don't need an alarm clock which is nice.

I spent a few thousand euros on matresses. Tried melatonin as well. My gel-based matress now really does help a lot and if I really need to sleep, I take the strongest valerian I can get. Oxazepam also helps a LOT, but if I use it for sleeping I'm a total zombie the next day.

@@fancimcguffin2227 Most definitely yes. They're available on Amazon, not cheap but not overly expensive (depending upon the size and weight).
