Jenny, who studies English Language and Creative Writing at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU), has autism and is supported by DMU’s mentoring scheme. She gives an insight into living away from home, becoming independent, and effective study strategies for success as a student.
DMU has its own Autism Officer, who supports students with autism through their studies and employability. This includes access to mentoring support as well as assistive technologies, including the new award-winning app ‘Brain in Hand’. In addition, DMU supports students in socialising, coping with independent living and well-being.
