Hi, do you know if this unit is Digital Wireless (better quality) or Analog wireless? You should connect the power wire to the hot wire on your reverse bulb. This way it will only come on until you put the vehicle in reverse. That's how I've installed all of mine.

You need to connect the power of the camera to the backup light, that will activate the camera only when you are in reverse and not all the time.

Sir, that's what the manual and other users are commending. While on my part i made an independent on/off switch on my backup sensor and reverse camera so that even when not in reverse or if you want to check something behind you just simply turn it on, or maybe you could make a two connection. 1 for the reverse light and another 1 for manual on/off switch, just buy an on/off/on switch.

Your thinking only of your particular need for a rear camera. Mine is different. I drive a small convertible Toyota convertible with limited rear disability so sO need to see who is behind me not just backing up. Try thinking of others when you write these things, It will sound more interesting and paltible.

A big reason I want this is to help with the wandering pedestrian traffic - like small kids, driveways, drop-offs, parking lots...not to park the car perfectly in Palm Springs

I believe you are supposed to connect to the positive wire to the reverse lamp positive wire and the black to the body for a ground. Then the camera ONLY comes on when vehicle is placed in reverse as the vehicle sends power current to the reverse lamps the camera will then get its power and will turn on. Thus, your camera wont be on all the times when vehicle is in acc or while running.

I been looking for a backup camera but most of them make you open your backup light and plug it from there. To me it's alot of hustle since I don't know about cars.

Just get the stuff and find places where they do windows for cars or electronics. Those guys can usually do it dirt cheap and it works.

Wire it to one of the reverse bulbs so it only comes on when you put the car in reverse. Get some T taps to make easier.

Also buy a $6 Female Cigarette connector and hook it up to your ignition wire and chassis ground it - and plug it up under your dash so you don't see the power wire to the camera inside your interior. Too Easy - keeps everything clean.

It is illegal in some states to have a continuously active screen while driving. That is the primary reason the camera should be connected to the reversing light. It varies from state to state.

Yes, get this M1W and get an "Advanced Portable Car Camcorder." You'll have two monitors, but so what?! You'll spend under $50 and have the best of both worlds. I got the M1W for 40 bucks and the APCC for about $10.

Got the M1W and had some trouble with the back up light, both wires to the back up light are positive and don't know how to fix this issue. Camera is on the time when connected to the wire that is hot and when connected to the other wire which should be neg. the camera is on and when you put in reverse it goes out. I connected the neg wire in the back to a ground like the instruction said. I did ever thing like the manuel said. Please help??

i don't think both wires are positive unless someone already touched your car wires and used the same color of wires instead of two different colors for easy identification.

Easy. Disconnect reverse bulb unit from the socket unit, put a test light to one red wire, and then put car in reverse while on...if the test light lights up, that's positive. Check the other wire to be safe. It should not light up when car is put into reverse, because it's the ground wire. Got it?

Not if you connect it to your reverse lights. I just had them turned on whenever the car turns on. So when you connect to reverse wires on your white lights, when they turn on your monitor turns on
