That reminded me of something Diana's and Charles's housekeeper recalled. That was lovely, thank you! As a child I loved Elizabeth and I wanted to be just like her! I must have watched National Velvet a thousand times. I had a horse injury when I was 17 which has plagued me all my life resulting in spinal surgery four years ago and now going down the same road again with another section of my spine. Like Elizabeth I constantly rely on strong painkillers but thankfully I don’t have any addictions. What a lovely surprise to see the auto writing! Elizabeth T and Michael J both had accidents that led to life-long pain and hence pain killer addictions. She fell from a horse while making the National Velvet movie and he accidentally had his hair set alight during a Pepsi commercial and was hospitalised with 2nd degree burns that needed scalp reconstruction. Ongoing burn pain is one of the worst to endure.

I wonder if Rock and Monty are also part of her soul family. She was very close to them and they passed away prematurely. Turner Classic Movies occasionally plays short montages of actors or filmmakers with someone narrating it. Elizabeth did one for Monty, Montgomery Clift. She told a couple of fluff stories about him and his shyness, but didn't go beyond that. They were private stories and she would never discuss them or write a book about it. She is still maintaining her privacy, along with those she loved dearly. I respect that. I think Elizabeth was terribly misunderstood. She had to grow up fast. While she was a child star, by the time she was a teenager, she was already playing adult roles, with leading men that were much older than her. She was taken advantage of by one of her future husbands, Eddie Fisher, while she was heavily medicated and dealing with the tragic loss of her husband Michael Todd. She was blamed for breaking up her good friends marriage. I think that happened a lot during that and previous eras. They didn't discuss consent, SA, being blacked out and not remembering what happened, etc back then. Women just accepted the blame and didn't have anywhere to go or anyone to talk to. She had to marry that lowlife in order to save face.

I have a suggested mysteries reading...Warren Harding, 29th President of the US. Specifically his death. Short story, he was embroiled in a political scandal, his wife Florence suggested taking a tour out west and she accompanied him. He fell ill during the tour (he already had heart issues) and died suddenly at age 57. Doctors didn't know what exactly happened; Florence refused an autopsy & had him embalmed and shipped back to DC. Some rumors she did him in; he had a couple of affairs & a daughter which was confirmed in 2015 by DNA. Florence died the year following.
