I have a 2016 Limited, and really like it .. I upgraded the cold air intake and exhaust for better performance on paved roads, and it made a big difference. In the snow, it's a beast that can handle just about anything. Heated and cooled leather seats will spoil you. I upgraded the subwoofer over stock in the JBL sound system, and added an amplifier, all for less than $500.00 installed and that made a good sound system great. For me, these upgrades were the answer to making a really good SUV outstanding.

One thing I've noticed is that there is not many used 4runners for sale. At least not here in SE Michigan. I'm guessing people who own them must really like them.

Nice looking truck. My dad owns a 2003 4Runner sr5 v8 and STILL to this day is running just fine. Just one complaint is that the newer 4Runner has too much plastic and big knobs surrounding the tiny screen. Makes it look like a 50’s tv.

I like the boxy look I like longitudinal engine Proven reliability I like the chrome accent up front on a limited model 20 inch rims , 4 x 4 ,crawl options 👍 What I don’t like is very little trunk space behind a 3rd row, No ac for the 3rd row , kids in the back complain about lack of cold air reaching back there, Other than that I love it.

Ima a 3rd gen owner and super fan of the 4Runner. My 4Runner has 218k miles on it.. runs great... I’m confused tho, even though this a 2017 I hardly see this body style but rather I see more of the TRD/TRAIL version. Either way, 4runner for life!!!

4Runner is a great SUV with 2 major caveats. The front suspension is not stiff enough and nose-dives big-time under anything but easy braking. Also many 4Runners have a steering wheel "shimmy" very similar to an imbalanced tire. The steering wheel shimmy was something the dealer told me is "normal"?? (I did everything I could to try and find/fix the issue to no avail). With that said, 4Runners hold their value more than almost any other vehicle and are bulletproof. I forgot to add the SR5 models come with TRASH tires and need to be upgraded to something with a heavier sidewall to tighten up the handling a bit. BTW Great Reviews!!!
@kyleranderson29087 жыл бұрын
Stephen Krase I agree about the nose dive. The rear suspension is also soft. My grandparents bought a SR5 4Runner...I think they should of kept their 2005 Ford Explorer limited as it seems more superior than the 4Runner in handling and features. I think they should of bought a limited 4Runner.
@JohnDoe-nz6bk6 жыл бұрын
Stephen Krase I just bought a 2018 and wondered about that shimmy.. Thanks for the info!

NRA's newest member! Do you notice any nose dive when braking?
@JohnDoe-nz6bk6 жыл бұрын
Kyler Anderson not really.. Well, I guess. Because the other day I had to brake hard (the brakes work really well) and the front did nose dive where I thought I was gonna flip over.

Im looking at a 2018 4runner with 22,000 miles, limited, asking $36,500. Seems to be a correct price. When I ask for photos they don't send them plus no pics of the car on their website. Could this a Red Flag to stay away?
@AutoAcademics5 жыл бұрын
If the vehicle is local, then go take a look at it in person. That's always best. However, if there is no way to see what it looks like prior to purchase, we'd be very cautious. That being said, there are times when the vehicle is so new to the dealer that they haven't gotten pics of it yet. You can always speak with a salesperson and ask them to take some pics of it with their phone and send them to you. Hope this helps and good luck shopping!

I ended up buying a 2013 SR5 Premium with 135,000 miles for $20,000. If I can make a recommendation, buy a set of Yokohama Geolander A/T G015 tires. Amazingly quiet on the highway yet an aggressive tire off road.

When compared to other vehicles today, the fuel economy of the 4Runner is poor, Charlie Wilson. But as long as you or any other owners are good with it, then it's not something to stress over. The 4Runner has off-road capability that most crossovers can't match and if fuel economy were the end-all be-all, people wouldn't buy performance cars, either. We say, enjoy your truck and thanks for watching!
@charliewilson32345 жыл бұрын
