The 'All SF licence plates are Scottish Police cars' thing is a myth. A licence plate starting with S means it was registered in Scotland, if it's followed by the letters A though to J it was registered in Glasgow. Since police cars get registered in bulk together, this is why so many of them wind up on the same first 4 digits as they're being registered at the same place at the same time. Any other cars being registered at the same time though at that registration centre would also have gotten the same SF designation.

Saw a GT40 (assume it was a kit car) a couple of months ago just north of Cardiff in Gulf colours, sounding the part too. I wouldn't care less if it was a kit car, you'd feel so proud to be driving around in one of those, it looked stunning!

Speak about the bwm 540i estate taylor. Sounds silly i had a saab 9-3 Hirsch 2.8v6 turbo had all the bells and whistles on it. I loved it ate fuel for fun. My wife made me sell it as it was costing alot to run. Biggest mistake i ever made. I loved it wish i could have it back. So never get rid of it trust me. It will be like selling the van but much worse as the time and effort you've put into it

As much as I would like to see your guys do a kitcar I think you underestimate the amount of hours you need to put into one. Its alot more than just bolting finished parts together. I religiously put a minimum of 8 hours a week into it often way more + vacations etc and it still took me four years to build my project superfive which is alot less complicated than a GT40.

On another note you CAN trust most dealers because telling fibs to the general public just isn't worth the hassle!!! Most dealers will be absolutely upfront and honest about a cars history because usually the price represents its history and if your shopping at the bottom of the market expect to get a car worthy of the bottom the market. 18 years as a car dealer I can absolutely tell you that you get what you pay for, Taylor will testify to that. If its cheap its cheap for a reason, yes there are cars that appear cheap and you can find a diamond from time to time but on the whole if a car appears too cheap it will be too cheap for a reason. The same rule applies for dealers buying cars for stock, every so often you can buy a car cheaper than market value but the majority of the time if you buy a car cheap its for a reason, then said car is advertised cheap, again for a reason......
