i dont mind the change in material, i just wish autoart would've stayed true to their word on them becoming more affordable but the opposite has happened. inflation obviously plays a key here but it was only about a couple years ago you could still grab diecast autoarts for a reasonable price! another thing that i dont understand is why they continue to use that molded textured carbon fiber that you see on cheaper maisto models on their high end stuff. i can understand them using it on their lower budget lineup but not on models that cost $200+!!

Such an amazing video, you explained everything well. Personally I don't mind autoart using composite, because to me the most important part is the looks. My cars are locked behind the glass most of the time. I don't really take them out and play with the doors etc. So the fact that they can now make the car more detailed is a win for me :))

That green SV-J is stunning. You're right about the better definition on the edges. Great point about it being more important on Lamborghinis with their sharp creases, and less so on older cars with bigger radius curves. Really enjoying your videos, even though I don't collect 1-18 scale.

Great overview and review, thank you! I really enjoy this video, the information you give, and you have a great video voice, by the way! - My green SVJ is finally arriving soon here in Denmark after a year of waiting, and I hope that I'll like it. It's my first Autoart car.

How did that Autoart turn out? Did you like it?

Thanks for shedding light on this. AUTOArt was always a dream. I could never afford it growing up. 2 months ago I dove headfirst into resins from Ignition and MakeUp after weighing the pros and cons. I've been a collector of several resin items, so I don't associate weight (diecast) with quality. I'm looking forward to buying both composite and diecast AUTOART models for my wishlist vehicles, but since most of my favorites cars are modern design, I don't think I'll mind the composite since they will always be in a display case. To me, Definition and Details matter most.

agree completely with everything you said. subscribed. Bringing things even more up to date, I just received the most recent lambo release by AA - the Diablo SE 30 in purple. the details on this composite model are far more accurate and finely executed than on the older die cast metal Diablo models. And it includes functioning pop up headlights; the lack of which on the metal models always annoyed me. Although they do feel somewhat flimsy in this material, echoing what you mentioned. Overall, having better detail wins in my opinion, so metal or plastic, I'll take whichever looks better.

I would hope the goal of any major car model company would be to get the model as accurate as possible. Especially at this price level. Thank you for the feedback!

Totally agree. My friend recently asked me about this 'roundness' and lack of definition after seeing my 599 GTB from Hot Wheels Elite, which I thought to be a pretty good mould. I love the angular design of current Lamborghinis and I'm kind of glad Aa decided to go this way, because it's likely very hard to recreate in die cast. Based on what I heard about other models being reissued in ABS, they also profit from the change, at least shape wise. I have one ABS Huracan so far (the unloved one) and I was awestruck when I first saw it in person. I don't tinker with my models much, I guess nobody does at their current pricetags. I also could never quite grasp this concept of weight being a measure of quality. I am happy to trade some of that weight for better definition and (hopefully) lack of paint issues in the future. P.S. reagarding panel gaps, yes, they are minimal on good die cast Aa, but the panel edges in die cast are also _always_ a bit round, even on CMCs and Exotos. If only Aa could stop pushing their prices up while releasing things we really, really lust after...

Thank you for your thoughts. The prices (I hope) will come down slightly as inflation flattens out. The budget model companies (Bbuago, Solidio, etc.) are really reaping the benefits by offering some of the same cars at significantly lower prices, making them more accessible. The quality of those models are improving as well.

@@diecastden I hope you're right, but I can't see it coming. Aa recently exercised another price hike (at least here in Europe) and it's already well into the sub 300 USD territory. My supplier doesn't even want to order them because that's too much of a hassle for too little profit. On the other hand, looks like people are jumping on every opportunity to buy into the retired Aa models when they're announced by the likes of Motorhelix or Super A. Ironically, the demand makes their prices soar above Autoart's MSRP as soon as the preorders start being shipped, but that's still a steal compared to what people ask for the _real_ ones. It seems that there's a lot of wealth on the market these days and manufacturers can simply get away with testing the limits of their buyers.

@@pdcichosz There is a threshold where too much is too much. AR+ Pagani Zonda F for example, has come down significantly from the original $450+ price it was commanding. So has the Huayra BC from LCD, based on Ebay prices anyway. Time will tell...

Great overview over diecast to composite. I think you forgot a big plus to composite it's that it can't get zinc pest. One downside though, was the lack of detail, at least in the first models Autoart produced and the price kept going up.

Personally i am only bothered by the textured plastic carbon fibre. That belongs on Maisto and Bburago, not a AA model. Ideally they‘d clearcoat over paint + decals but yeah, i honestly think the Composite isn‘t the biggest issue.

I agree, Auto Art are over price and flimsy. My Urus has already paint chipping away, side mirror broke, rear lip spoiler came off, upon opening the box. Check out KengFai, Kyosho, LCD, Almost Real. Similar or less than AA, you are getting more for your money

Composite just looks better because metal is just too thick and that loses realism for me.

I agree, but there are some companies like Almost Real and LCD that have found a way to make zinc diecast metal look very compelling!
