as an attorney working for a major automobile insurance company, we had a big problem with our total loss cars having their keys taken at the auction lot. this meant they were selling for less money than they should. We investigated it thoroughly and found a bunch of the tow truck drivers were conspiring with purchasers to take the keys so the car would go for less money and they could use the keys later. it took a while but we got a lot of people fired and several people arrested

How is that possible if they usually just tow the cars to the yard and pickup from the yard!! If they drop the car off, then Copart/IAA still has to do their inspection/startup report before it gets put in the yard!! It would be noted as having NO KEYS!! The tow trucks the majority of the time ALSO have to wait outside the gates to be loaded by the loaders, just like everyone else!!! It almost makes me wonder if the key theft is an inside job being done by a Copart/IAA employee!! These people have GOT to selling these fobs on Ebay/FB marketplace as replacement fobs!! Notice that they are stealing higher end brands like Audi, BMW, Benz, etc or newer cars keys like the Hellcat and Trailboss, bc those will bring more $$$!! These thieves ARENT stealing keys to 15 yr old Kias or Saturns!!!

Well, I got LS 400 1992 and when you talk about the smell , you are right they had special smell and unique and still the same smell since when she was new ! You make me leave my bed and go to the garage and sit in the car for quite some time and just enjoy the smell of the car

That LS400 and that Audi A6 are definitely worth bidding on knowing they are both in pretty nice shape. Love the S Line package seats they had for those years. Also at about 31:30 that black Firebird/Trans Am might be worth a look. Enjoying the videos Randy!

Hey Randy, you might want to check the Odometer on that Lexus again. The last digit is red so it’s not 170k miles, it’s actually 17,869.9 miles. It could be a 5-digit odometer but I doubt it as Toyota/Lexus had the foresight to equip their vehicles with 6-digit ones from at least the mid-80’s.

Ohhh Randy. I think CoPart on line item 103 on their contract with allowing you into their yard has a new "you break it, you bought it" policy. I don't think CoPart will really care if you broke one of their cars. That was too funny when that door fell off. If you are looking at a Euro car/SUV that is missing the e-key, and it's not in the usual drop places inside the car, many of the Euro cars/SUV's have the battery in the back. And I have found e-keys that have been "hidden" back by the battery, or next to the spare tire, or in a rear storage compartment.
