This 2012 Mercedes g550 is WAY too Cheap at Copart! Hidden Damage?

Regarding the G550, there's an auxiliary transmission cooler mounted directly to the front bumper in the center. I've done a frame swap on one of these before. They aren't complicated at all. The front, rear and transfer case differentials can be locked. Front and rear lockers are hydraulic, center one is vacuum.

Love this new “3 video a day” format so far! I do think it would be interesting if you did 2 videos a day each about 15-20 minutes, one at the copart yard and one at your shop. But I understand that would be way more work

These Gwagens were originally designed for the German military. That's why they are so solid. They can weigh over 5500 pounds. That's why they get such crappy mileage. That tie rod is pretty solid, so I'm surprised to see it broken. I'd say they went over a big rock and slammed the front end down on it. I'd like to see it as a project. Hope you get it. Let’s just appreciate how randy used to check oil, coolant, underneath, check for milkshake, gearbox fluid and give the vehicles a good looking over all before starting them and now he turns the key and checks afterwards and then gets surprised.

Most likely just a bad expansion tank cap. My Discovery had a similar residue on the tank and a new cap solved the problem. Might be a cheap fix for this rig.

Hi Randy, I watched a Copart Auction on another channel a short time ago. They had a G550 that seemed to be in better shape. It went for $13,000. So Maybe this one with its problems could go for less. And also the 3 video format will be OK. To me it don't matter I enjoy your channel no matter what way you put out the videos.

FYI, those Gs were built for military purposes long time before they came up with the civilian version. They became popular after local farmers got their hands on through the army inventory sell outs. Once they realized how durable they are, everyone wanted to get one. Few year later MB decided to make civilized version and there you have it. This car is a tank and the only thing that may go wrong are options that made this car "civilized".

I check Rock Auto, FCP Euro, and Summit Racing for good parts at a good price. Yes, I added in Summit Racing because their selection and prices are worth checking for more than just race cars. Often they are better priced than Rock Auto. I even got an OEM washer fluid line for a Chrysler Town & Country mini van for half what the dealers charged.

Maybe the radiator and the AC condenser are cracked. You might want to double-check if you get the G-Class. (In Germany it is called a G-Klasse)

The G550 is actually a bulletproof vehicle use in European countries specifically in Russia but actually some are bulletproof just to stop a 9mm to 38mm
