@@blackterminal yep... thats what the dealers auctions do in Japan!! You go to any USS Auto Auction location in Japan and they require you to be first registered in their system... them you have to enter the auction lot number of the car you want to inspect into the computer system.... then you print it out, take the form to a window and show your ID!! They then confirm that its you, then the girl goes and finds the keys and brings them to you.... you also have a limited time (like 30min max to do a full inspection) to check said car out before they start paging you to bring back the keys.... and if you still dont.... theyll come find you and you could possibly be escorted out, and ask to never come back and even banned for life!! Japan doesnt play around!!!

You will eventually have to first notify the management which car you want to start and then go get the proper key. That will be a lot of administration for Copart and the potential buyer.

It's a Mercedes thing. It'll say don't forget your Key even if it's on another planet. Went and tested on my buddies S-Class. Sorry to hear about the missing keys man. People will do anything but earn money in an honest way nowadays...

I would bid on that Mercedes because obviously it runs very good if somebody stole the key and just get another one for Mercedes teach that guy a lesson who is stealing the keys. It looks like it was very well-maintained and the interior is very clean.

It's honestly real sh1tty that someone is going around jacking keys. There are quite a few vehicles where it is very expensive to get a replacement. I have a 2010 Audi S4 and only one key/fob for it. There's a reason I don't have a spare. Because it's about $400 to have one shipped from Audi in Germany then about $700 to have it programmed to the car. This key thief is costing thousands of dollars to not only Copart but whoever buys the car on top of the asking/auction win price. Copart should implement a system where someone looking at cars has to sign the keys out then return them when they are done. If they fail to do so, they get a bill for a replacement and banned from all Copart facilities. That's what I'd do to curb the theft anyway.

@@kirkacola7942 There's a local U-pull yard I go to and they have cameras watching the entire lot. It's not real expensive to install them. Cameras would sure help because the loaders and other Copart employees cannot be everywhere at once and are usually always busy.

Randy Copart can do what they do here in Australia at the damaged car auctions if they have keys and service books they remove them but they can’t guarantee that the car comes with them when it’s picked up from auction because the owner might have stuff in the car and they might empty it out if they have belonging Inside

I’d say that someone might be watching your videos on here and taking the keys from the cars you be interested in mate and I’d say that if you get one with out the key to make sure they delete the old keys from the car immobiliser after programming new keys as if they watch your videos and have the old key to the car you brought then they could nick them real easy Randy. yes, we have an auction house here and you can get 1 key. They hold your driver's license, you have to come back and exchange your first key for the next one you want and you must know the lot number of the vehicle you want to see too.

Honestly, what Copart should start doing is keep all of the keys locked up. Anyone wanting to look at cars has to submit a list of lot numbers at the counter, then you either sign out the keys based on your list or an employee keeps custody of the keys and walks around with you as you're checking the cars out. That would put a stop to the key theft. Don't bring the keys back? That's cool then Copart can just send the thief a bill for replacing them. It's upwards of $1,000 for Audi's, and Mercedes, Porsche.

@@josephesposito70 If they can keep the titles filed away properly they can keep the keys filed as well. At most it would require one extra counter person to receive the keys back after they have been signed out. The U-pull yard I go to has a similar system. You only come in through one gate, sign in with your name, pay your entry fee, then when you leave if you have a bag or tool box, there is someone who inspects it for parts smuggling and charges you for whatever parts you pulled. You pay then leave. The keys could be kept in a drawer system by lot number. I strongly suspect they file the titles away by lot number so this would not be hard to adapt to.

@@mexicanspec Sure he can. Just submit the lot numbers he wants to look at. He always has a list anyway. I've seen it in his bag when he's getting his booster pack out. And return them when he's done. Randy is not a key thief so would then follow this simple rule.

Three vehicles each video, you think Copart's going to be happy with them having to dig out 42 sets of keys all at once for a guy making videos? Plus, on his walkarounds I'm sure he sees other vehicles he missed in his online searches and would likely want to look at them as well. More trips to the office for keys? No, the solution is for Copart to use something to hold keys other than plastic tie wraps, some sort of steel cable or something. Make the thief bring in a set of bolt cutters if you have to. Keeping all the keys in a separate location is going to cost them sales, especially for the cheaper vehicles.

I had a Saturn Ion 3 that ended up being trash... Automatic Transmission went out @ 78k.. no way to check trans fluid level and the only way to add trans fluid was usually at the dealership (fluid has to be pumped from underneath car)!! It was a good running car until the transmission starved itself without warning!! I WOULD LOVE TO PUNCH THE MORON AT GM THAT CAME UP WITH THAT IDEA!! It left me high and dry on the freeway and and had to replace the car with another one on short notice!! I havent bought a GM since!!

Clicked soon as I saw the Porsche, the Macan regardless of engine is a sports car wearing an SUV costume! So much fun to drive. On Audi, and I bet on Porsche, if a car has airbags blow, the cables to the battery also disconnect automatically. That's a twin-turbo V6, 335 hp/339 lb-ft, absolutely awesome to drive!
