I got a text from Graham from Monster Tranmission regarding the original message I tried to send. It turned out I was on a chat bot when I thought I was sending them an email. I texted him back, and he replied he never even got my original message. I don't know what Graham's position at Monster, but I let him know about all the negative comments about Monster Transmission in the comment sections of this video series. We'll see if they have a legitimate business or not by how they respond to these videos or if they even care about their reputation.

Their customer service is trash! She knew her superior was not in a meeting. Come on 4 hours in a meeting? You have every right to be upset spending all this money and in no way they had no way of helping you even when you had a spot to fix it so you could finish power tour but they still couldn't comprehend that so that's bad business for them because people will see this and they will lose business.

Randy, I understand your frustration, but it would be a tragedy for you to sell the Monte over this. Like you said you couldn't recoup the time or money you have in it anyways & selling it will not remove or change the horrible memories caused by a transmission company. You built an awesome car, remember how comfortable Mike looked sleeping on the ride out! He couldn't do that in the viper. That Monte deserves another chance at power tour next year! With or without Monster transmission! So please calm down & re-think it. Love following you, Mike & Santa
@BrennaUrbangirl

As much as I agree it would be a tragedy to sell the Monte. Randy may not have a choice if he wants to recoup the 3 or so grand he lost in U-haul rentals, additional hotel fares, the loss of hotel fare from cancelled hotels, gas, etc. he may have to sell.

@BrennaUrbangirl You would dump it after all the time, effort & money invested-over 3k… Vs just looking around the yard for a few to unload to recoup the loss🤔. Project cars like this aren’t just a throw away Hyundai. Unfortunately it just comes with the territory. If Randy were as spiteful as I am-he’d pull the Trans/Converter out, load it up and drive it to their office in Fl-and throw it out at the office door-all while filming it for KZbin…. Although I’d probably stop in Dallas and throw the Converter at Gasmonkeys office door as well🤷🏻‍♂️🤔😬

It was broken out of the box! It couldn't go into park, and then the torque converter grenades itself. They have big quality control issues, and management who doesn't care. I wouldn't be surprised if there's been high employee turnover at that place.

@@charlesbass5856 If you ever are given a rental car that smells like marijuana, refuse it. It's really hard to explain to an asshole cop, on the side of the road, that the car is a rental and he has no right to search it based on a smell that you didn't cause. I've had the unfortunate honor to have my car searched a few times with no warrant, and no real probable cause. If I had known my rights, I would have been able to have the cases and arrest records tossed out with ease.

Sorry for multiple comments but I have been in the Automotive Service industry for almost 40 years and this ticks me off. Here's a idea when you get back to your shop I would pull that transmission out and find a local builder of performance transmissions. I would have them tear this transmission down and go through it and find out if there is something in the build that caused the convertor to fail. Also there could be metal in the transmission from the failed convertor.. I also would film it all and post a video of what was found.

First off, it was nice of Monster to give you the Trans and converter, but that's where that ends. They could have made this right, but they completely screwed the pooch! For them to ghost you and dick you around the way they did, is inexcusable! That was complete bullshit! If it were me, I would tell them they could take that F*CKING torque converter and shove it up their A$$!! Sideways! Spinning at 10,000 RPM! But that's just me. Shout out the that guy in Indiana who opened up his shop to to the people on Power Tour who needed any help! And for him to send that converter, when it arrives to his shop, to you at AAR HQ, was above and beyond what most people would do for someone they don't even know. That was so nice of him! What a class act! Major props to him!!! I'm sorry things turned out the way they did for you guys this year. That sucks! At least you were able to meet some nice people, and interact with some of your subscribers. When you are in a jam like that, you sure find out who your true friends are. First of all, another super solid video bro. Thank you for putting in the time and the hard work and documenting the whole experience and really just putting your honest thoughts and opinions into the video. I know the ending result was not what you were hoping, but at the end of the day it's all an experience for the better or for the worse. It's all an experience and even though like I said it didn't work out the way you wanted it to. You still have some good memories from this whole experience. Maybe more bad ones and good but you still have some good ones nevertheless. And you will still be finishing the power tour so that in and of itself is a good thing. As for the companies themselves, I agree with you. I feel like you didn't go overboard when your company that prides yourself on customer service, you really need to deliver that said customer service. And it's sad that with the technology that we have these days a lot of people instead of being honest and and telling you how things are, a lot of people will just be more than happy to let things sit there and not respond ghosting you as you said. So that's especially sad for a very popular company that prides themselves on customer service. As for the car, I think you should keep the car bro you put into time you put in the money you built a phenomenal car one component broke. That doesn't mean that you should fix it and get Red of the car. Fix the car. Enjoy the car. Try to get your money's worth out of it hopefully some of the KZbin revenue venue can help soften the blow of all the money that you're out of for the whole trip. Keep up the great work bro. Have a good one and I'll catch you on the next one.

You absolutely nailed it… stuff happens, it’s how you handle it after the fact that separates a good company from bad. I had a similar issue, Wizard recommended a company for rebuilt motors…. Needed a 3.6 motor for my Jeep.. decided to give them a try… sprung for the upgraded warranty to make sure I was covered…. motor came in, was installed by my mechanic… it was bad out of the box, valve taps, zero miles…. Then the “fun” began. First that wanted my mechanic to replace the phasers, fine he did… finally they authorized a new motor (this took about 3 week to get to this point)… new motor comes in, it’s ok… but now we come to cost.. again the first motor was a zero mile motor bad out of the box. They would only pay book rates to replace the phasers and the motor again.. long story short it cost me well over $1000 extra to replace their bum motor…. I sold the jeep after about a year, and about a year after I get a message from the new owner that the second motor blew up and they were refusing to cover it under warranty as they had already replaced one motor under that warranty… a zero mile motor……

In wrapping up, what happened to Randy is more the norm rather than the exception.

Long as it’s “seated” which is pretty obvious with the Converter “thunk”, converter bolts are tight, fluid level is full-not to mention he used the lock-up controller directly from Monster… this is ALL ON MONSTER. Obviously the quality control SUCKS, but the Customer NO-Service is even worse💯

You have every reason to be upset and they deserve to have their business smeared to know end . I understand stuff happens but there is no excuse for no communication and shipping it wrong .

Kudos to you and Mike for finishing the tour and letting Subscribers know when products work and when they don’t. I realize hindsight is always 20/20 and Monster Trans is a Hot Name (prior to this incident) in the Automotive World and I fully understand why you went with them. My thought is I would promote Holley by using a B&M Trans even if it wasn’t Sponsored based on Holley being the Parent Company? They have done a lot for your builds including parts for the 69’ SS from the last Power Tour.

Hey Randy, i get the frustration, instead of paying thousands of dollars, doing what you did- i would have found a used 700r4 or even a new stock one and deal with being ghosted later to finish the power tour. Its mechanical and its now more about principal but finishing tour in the monte would be more important- Mark

Enterprise did the same to me last year. I was going on a road trip from Huntington Beach, California to Ft. Worth, Texas and back 2 weeks later. A week before we were leaving I reserved a mid-sized SUV. I printed out the paper with the reservation confirmation number. Friday we show up to pick up the car because we are leaving at 4 AM Saturday morning. There's a lot of activity going on of people dropping off cars and picking up cars. We're sitting there waiting for at least an hour. Finally some lady comes over and tells us that they don't the SUV for us. I told her that I had reserved the SUV a week ago. She said that the only thing that they did have was the Cadillac SUV. She couldn't rent it to us at the price of what we would have paid for the mid-sized SUV. But as a favor, she could give us a little bit of a break on the rental cost. We were stuck and left with no other choice since we were leaving early the next morning. This is an Enterprise that also sold their older rentals. This Cadillac that we ended up with was a POS. It was dirty, scratched up and looked like it was an SUV that someone used as a trade-in for buying one of their old rentals that they were selling. And the whole time there, there were people returning rentals and driving away with rentals. I would have been fine if all they had to offer us was a mid-sized car if nothing else. And this lady insisted that there was nothing else to rent me. We made it to the TA in Kingman, AZ for our first fuel stop and I bought a gallon of coolant and washer fluid since the low coolant light would come on once in awhile and the low washer fluid would come on. And the whole time driving, I'm just hoping that this POS doesn't break down somewhere.

I do feel sorry guys.. It's sad to see this situation. I am amazed to see this kind of customer service in the US, at a top transmissions company.. I do encourage you guys, you have done great, a lot of work, stressful time.. Don't give up, you have our support. Let's move on.

The Cluster***** continues! I would probably send some kind of a gift package such as a Hickory Farms assortment to that nice guy who tied up his shop for you. Charge it and every other bill to Monster Transmissions not that they would pay! You were very reserved in your comments to them!

Did the torque converter fail or was it the torque converter lock up that you added that caused the whole issue.

@christ1stcars2nd66 I keep seeing this pop up… #1 the kit he bought was directly from MONSTER-not some home made Autozone special. #2 without that lock/unlock switch HOW is the converter supposed to Lock/Unlock traveling down the road-since the car itself can’t do it? These switches have been going into GM Trans Swaps for YEARS-with no issues. Worst case scenario is you forget to unlock it going down the road-coming to a stop and the car stalls🥴🤔

You handled this crappy circumstance well. I commend you for it. Definitely don’t get rid of the car. It’s very nice and you deserve to enjoy it. Go with a different brand converter and have a reputable trans builder rip the trans apart and start from scratch to get rid of the bad juju. Who knows what other surprises are hidden inside.

Why not leave the Monte Carlo there at Ron's you know it is safe and take the rental home with the unlimited mileage and Gas got to be a lot cheaper and when you get home make sure to get some sleep because when have a lack of sleep you can make bad decisions and when you then next visiting your Ron's home take your trailer with dodge Ram and pick it up because got to be a little cheap that way please think on a positive and just be thankful no one was hurt and cars can always be fix.
