its great that explanations are also given to why certain plot styles would be used in certain situations, like using screening 25% to lighten a drawing so you could easily annotate a print with marker pen, say

Really excellent...thanks so much! I am self taught on AutoCAD and have been using it for about 6 months. I have been struggling with plot styles and line weights. I think this will help...

Hello. Very informative video and well narrated. Question in regards to the subject you brought up at 8:25. Can I have all the layers with color 230 (any color really) print black except for a single later with that color? The solution that was shown in this video overrides the whole color. Very much appreciated.
@CADSchulungen Жыл бұрын
Sure - you just have to leave the colour as it is in the plot style table - or choose a different one!

Hello, thank you for your video, it was very informative. I would like to ask you a question: do you know what is the "Adaptive" option for, which can be turned on or off? Thank you very much
@CADSchulungen4 жыл бұрын
Hi Eljamestumaister, I cannot say I have ever used that setting - but Autodesk explains it this way: Adaptive. Adjusts the size of the linetype pattern so that line objects contain complete patterns. This affects only linetypes set in a plot style table. knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Plot-style-table-settings-explained.html

Thanks for your presentation. Could you pls also explain about bylayer and bycolor concept?
@CADSchulungen4 жыл бұрын
Can do - I will make a video about that next. But just as a summary, if for example you set properties in a dimension style as ByBlock, then the dimension will have the properties like line weight, colour or line type as defined in the Layer Properties Manager. But if you change the object properties - mark it with a left click and change it using the properties manager - then the layer properties will be ignored.

A single Named Plot Styles Table is all we need, much simplier and practical than the awkward concept of Color Plot Styles Tables. Autodesk : "over complication and redundancy is cheap but we sell it high".

Is there a way to scale dotted lines using plot style tables?
@CADSchulungen4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon - what a good question. I have NOT seen a possibility there - some way of changing the value of LTSCALE for example. The line type CAN be changed or set, so you will usually have three possibilities to choose from - or more if you make your own line type.

Great representation! But it's sad to know though that there's no other possibility to print a layer in colour only by setting a true colour for it.
@CADSchulungen4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. It is possible to use the tables to allow colours to be printed in index colours s well - it is just not possible to use the tables to determine print colours of the true colours...

Would you ever define line weights in your layers?
@CADSchulungen3 жыл бұрын
Hi Suzanne, I personally do not, since I like to use the colours to control line weight - then I can always see which lines have which thickness. It does limit me though in the use of colour to identify layers, so it really is just a matter of taste - most of the project drawings I come across have at least some line weights defined by layer.

Just a tip for future videos. The intro sounded a little muffled, either the room you shot it in was too big of the mic was too far away. Nice explanation though
