Some additional information.. 1. The chassis is now monocoque instead of unibody (combo of monocoque and ladder frame) like in previous gen. That allows the floor to be lower, while overall ground clearance is still higher than previous gen. This, combined with the FWD layout means there isn't a shaft to the rear wheels, the 3rd row is more spacious and allows space for the 3rd row seats to fold flat. And we can sit more properly in the 3rd row, not so much as squatting like in the previous gen. 2. The AC control for rear passengers is positioned right smack in the middle so it can be reached by all passengers without moving position (well, maybe just a slight body and arm contouring). I've tried this from the driving seat and from the 3rd row, yes it works. 3. If you slide the 2nd row forward to the max, take out all the headrests, and then recline the seats backward, you can have long sofa mode with 2nd and 3rd row seats. Basically you can have a picnic inside the car. So long sofa mode can be done with 1st row + 2nd row seats or 2nd row + 3rd row seats, but not all 3 rows in the same time. 4. The FWD layout itself technically makes the car more efficient than previous gen. No shaft means power is distributed to front wheels with less power loss. Combined with the CVT transmission, the car drives at lower RPM in constant driving speeds making it more efficient. I've seen some channels test it in combination route for 50 kilometers, achieving around 17 to 18 kilometers per liter of fuel. 5. In some markets, there is variant of Avanza equipped with a pair of stereo camera for Toyota Safety Sense features, but no cruise control. So its just lane keep assist and forward collision mitigation braking system. 5. In some markets there is a variant called Toyota Veloz. It has different face, different front and rear bumper, high center console with electric parking brake and auto hold, and it has blue ambient lighting around the console and on front doors.

And that multiple seating configuration and larger space is due to the switch to the newer D-NGA architecture, which replaced the older (half)ladder-frame one but also as a consequence, it loses the multi-link suspension switching it to a rear torsion beam with coil springs.

Great review Caco!👌🏻 For its price point of 1.5L gasoline, 7 seater capacity, fuel efficient, the Grab, lalamove, etc. Taxi and soon Toktok operators might consider buying this for its practical reason. Sorry, but the 1.3L is underpowered to drive. Since it’s a toyota, taxi operators will still prefer this, especially that sofa option for driver’s to rest???✌🏻😂 Hence, a 1k units sold per month target of toyota might be possible.👌🏻

A contender in the MPV fuel economy belt. But, still need to wait for Autodeal's usual testing. Then we'll know. 😊 The ride comfort tuning might've been intentional as previous owners may consider this as an upgrade and expect or actually want the same firmness, if you will. Overall, it looks great, and makes better use of space than the previous generation. Most likely another hit from Toyota. 👌

Nice review but somehow I would like to see its actual performance loaded with 7 adults, climbing on Sungay road from Talisay going up to Tagaytay something like that. For that we have an idea how a 1.5 engine carries this huge 7 seater mpv. Is it safe or not so that things can be avoided like overloading or find other routes just to avoid those stiff inclined roads.

Natest drive namin to nung weekend sa Autofocus 2022 sa may Moa and isa sya sa pinaka naenjoy ko itest drive, 1.5cc yes, kinda small yes, kasi mpv naman sya pero it has power naman. fair enough to deliver para sa kanyang size(apat kami sa loob), mas oks na din yung tagtag and yung preno nya maganda yung kagat mararamdaman mong responsive. goods to kung bibili ako ng MPV sya first choice ko. di ko natry veloz kasi ang daming naka pila kaya Avanza na lang.

Rented this car today and instantly fell in love I can’t believe I’m actually saying this😅 I mean I’ve always hated avanza and never even had the thought of purchasing it someday, but that’s because of the previews gen, they looked so ugly and boring no spirit in the interior just boring, but today I’ve rented it and man I fell In love hence why I am here watching the review even tho I’ve driven it. It’s smooth, gas peddle is responsive maybe coz it’s my first time driving a cvt, never liked it too before but I guess I’m having a second opinion regarding cvt vehicles, so yes it’s responsive exceeded my expectations, felt different but in a good way, outside noise didn’t really bother, I mean who really drives around without songs on right ? So zero complaints on the outside noise, spacious af, visited a friend and he too loved it I let him drive it for awhile to try it out. Speakers aren’t bad at all, good bass n all that I haven’t tweaked the settings or the eq so I presume it’s on default but it’s a 50/50 chance, owner could’ve tweaked something which made it really sound so good. Also I noticed something bout the steering wheel, I dunno if it’s actually made that way or it’s coz of the vehicle weight when driving over 40km/h or around that number, Anyway, let’s say driving below 30-40km/h steering wheel feels sooo smooth and light like easy on the steering with no trouble, for a car this size it’s a beautiful thing, as I’m speeding and going 40 and above or 50, steering felt a little heavy which is also a good thing, can’t explain it well but it’s a beautiful thing too, like I said, wasn’t sure if it was made that way on purpose or it gets heavier at a certain speed coz of the vehicle weight. Either way it’s still good. I really love it and I have plans to owning one for myself and family. Especially figuring out the sofa mode oh man that’s such a turn on its orgasmic, definitely gonna be Netflix n “chilling” 🤪 Love your videos btw, I always look you up for a car review. Keep it up. In line with the flat folding 3rd row, the LC Prado is the only one that folds flat before this avanza came. Hoping you get hands on one since the current gen might get updated soon.

The transmission in new avanza uses DCVT, a combination of belt and planetary gear, which in theory provide more efficiency and durability, so in my opinion new avanza are more suitable for comfort driving around town or flat road, on broken bumpy road avanza might not as good as the old generation due to lower front bumper angle, also below the new avanza engine, theres no cover / crankguard to protect the bottom of engine / transmission

Biggest issue witht his car is that it cannot handle uphill road when filled at full capacity. The issue is diagnosed by one of the tuner in Indonesia and was found out that its incapability due to engine setting that aims for efficiency. It is not about being FWD since other tests with other brand with similar configuration (FWD , 1,5 liter engine) have shown that they capable to climb albeit very slow.

I personally think this looks much closer to the USDM Highlander. The body lines, especially on the side, makes it more evident. The face also looks similar as to how the Highlander feels weighted on the ground.
