i cant wait to see where they go next with this. perhaps they could expand capacity by increasing capacity of each car. And, to avoid traffic, they could introduce a dedicated right of way. This would also improve speed by avoiding traffic signs. Even better, they could reduce cost of maintenance by using steel wheels instead of pavement, and use rails. And, perhaps attach several cars together to massively improve capacity. Excited to see the future iterations!

How does insurance handle that? How do they calculate premiums if people aren’t involved.. Why aren't more people asking this - were ANY of the Cybercab and Optimus demos last night actually autonomous using FSD, or were they preprogrammed and remote operated respectively? The clips of Optimus at the bar clearly seemed like human operation, and the Cybercab drive doesn't have the feel of FSD
@VieVentar3 ай бұрын
I'm confident a road going autopilot could manage the taxi demo. It's a closed road and a pre-plotted course, that's acheiveable with current tech. The Optimus walking looked pre-programed, and it was notable we didn't see it transition from walking to any of the other things it did. It either walked, carefully chaperoned, or it stood/sat still and did things with its hands that REALLY looked like remote operation. Which is fucking dumb, if that was remote operation Tesla shouldn't be lying about it being a robot - they should be promoting the hell out of it as an interactive telepresence device. Just think how many folks would have good use of a device that could go out into the world and do tasks remotely for them. Whack the uper torso on a track/wheeled base with a stair climbing system, give it a reasonable remote connection and it's a massively useful tool.

You might want to do a deeper dive on why waymo is not making money. They're simply doing autonomy wrong.
