The screen really needs to provide more feedback on what the car is doing - to make "mainstream" people feel at ease. They need some evidence of what the car is aware of and trying to do. The screen can't be only for adverts, surely?

i cant wait to see where they go next with this. perhaps they could expand capacity by increasing capacity of each car. And, to avoid traffic, they could introduce a dedicated right of way. This would also improve speed by avoiding traffic signs. Even better, they could reduce cost of maintenance by using steel wheels instead of pavement, and use rails. And, perhaps attach several cars together to massively improve capacity. Excited to see the future iterations!

@@Xetairex I think Tesla is more than capable of having a car run around a pre-trained route consistently. By most of the time I meant most of the time statistically. If you have to intervene for 30 seconds in a 30-minute route, that's pretty good statistically. These rides were likely 5 minutes or less and were repeated on the same roads. I do not doubt that there were people monitoring it ready to override it at any moment though.

My questions are , what happens if police are trying to pull one over? what happens then? does it know to pull over? is the owner liable if they are at home asleep? do they get notified at all? how do they handle since their car is gone... does it know what an officer looks like if they are directing traffic and tell it to stop? like if a traffic light is out for example... so many questions surrounding translating this dream world of the future to the reality of the road.. i think haven't been explained, possibly fully thought out… more examples include theft, people trying to steal these while its out and about.. how did they make it secure from that..what if it gets into an accident with a non- FSD car? is the owner at fault? or the manufacturer? How does insurance handle that? How do they calculate premiums if people aren’t involved.. I think MKHD is right on the regulations as well.. there’s just way to much that has to be thought about and regulated and changed to make an Fully Automated Car work/compatible with a world that hasn’t quite caught up to its way of doing things.

Why aren't more people asking this - were ANY of the Cybercab and Optimus demos last night actually autonomous using FSD, or were they preprogrammed and remote operated respectively? The clips of Optimus at the bar clearly seemed like human operation, and the Cybercab drive doesn't have the feel of FSD
@VieVentar
@VieVentar 3 ай бұрын
I'm confident a road going autopilot could manage the taxi demo. It's a closed road and a pre-plotted course, that's acheiveable with current tech. The Optimus walking looked pre-programed, and it was notable we didn't see it transition from walking to any of the other things it did. It either walked, carefully chaperoned, or it stood/sat still and did things with its hands that REALLY looked like remote operation. Which is fucking dumb, if that was remote operation Tesla shouldn't be lying about it being a robot - they should be promoting the hell out of it as an interactive telepresence device. Just think how many folks would have good use of a device that could go out into the world and do tasks remotely for them. Whack the uper torso on a track/wheeled base with a stair climbing system, give it a reasonable remote connection and it's a massively useful tool.
