This video is golden -- thank you so much for posting it. I play harp and piano and so can't have nails at all, but also own and love to play a chromatic kalimba in a six-finger style, which requires nails. As a result, I haven't touched the kalimba for some time and miss it. The only picks kalimba players know much about are the Alaska piks which I agree are absolutely useless. I had no idea that these other styles of picks even existed and have ordered the Fred Kelly ones to test them out as they look very promising. I'm also going to cast my fingertips in a hand-casting kit and see if I can make my own using thermoplastic sheets -- wish me luck. :-) If it works, I may post a short video about how to do it.

Oh wow. Great!! Thank you…,Also I just started playing with new picks that I love. They are from a Hawaiian brand called Kalena. Google them. They’re so comfortable! 🥰❤️

Since you asked, my preference is to play without any picks, just bare fingers (not nails, fingers). You can see such playing on my post of La Mantovana. All but 1 or 2 of the tracks on my channel are done with bare fingers. You can hear just what a bare finger can do in "Cherokee Shuffle". Now, when I use finger picks, I use the old fashioned Dunlops, or some wierd cheap ones I got at a guitar center years ago, no brand name on them.

fred kelly , yeah, mine are really snug but they don't come off (yet) while I'm trying to strum to and fro....interested in those Cling Pic's though...wow...

lOVE THE CLING PICKS wondering about that white thumb speed pick though for the autoharp strumming? WHat is your opinion the cling thumb pick versus the white speed pick with that smaller picking surface?
@aliceroseautoharp Жыл бұрын
Howdy. Honestly I change depending on the song. Right now my favorite for strumming is the Zoomies one but I use the speed pick on slower songs where I’m picking melody. Also I recently found Kalena picks though which I’m loving for picking, game changer-but not strong enough for vigorous strumming 🎶

@@aliceroseautoharp I followed until the end. There is nothing about Alaska Fingerpicks. I started singing with Alaska Fingerpicks, and they seem to be getting better and better; it's harder until you get used to them. I don't think there are any other good ones on the market right now.
