NO MONORAILS Just connect the fucking trolley to the airport, transfering systems is always a nightmare no matter what, so the fewer transfers the better.

The trolley is unusable because of the disgusting and violent homeless that the police won't do anything about. If we unite through love we can destroy the corporate aristocracy and their mentally ill child mutilating leftist puppets

A people mover would not be much of a transfer at all. A trolley would have still required a transfer as it would be its own line that would connect to the others at santa fe. A people mover would likely run at a frequency far greater than the trolley.

A single congested runway and congested roadways when the new terminal completed its expansion. Extra gates mean more traffic. The People Mover will be an ideal addition to the airport's commitment on industry-leading sustainability

I live in Miami, we have a metro mover. I use it a lot, because our infrastructure is absolutely pathetic. Driving in downtown Miami is basically a no go for me. I have visited San Diego plenty of times, get ahead of this if you can. But expand the mover to more than just two spots.

Problem is that AC Transit has a bus that goes along that same corridor that only costs a fraction of the connectors cost of $6.00. If BART did not make it so expensive such as pricing it to the same price as AC transit or even free, more people would use it.

Automated trains are the future of transit from Vancouver to Dubai and everywhere in between... The labor savings alone especially given transit strike potential makes it worthwhile... Just ask Vancouver right now which is hampered by transit strikes... EXCEPT SKYTRAIN...

SD desperately needs this transit link but it is ridiculous, in my opinion, to build a monorail or people mover. Instead use the same track standards and cars as the current trolley system so this can be expanded and interconnected with the current system.
@Matt_JJz

Why would they build these instead of a metro? Monorails or "People movers" are overpriced, very low capacity and seem to need a lot of power because it seems that each individual carriage will hage its own motors; so it will be a giant power whore. Also these things have rubber wheels so it will produce a lot of tire waste (very bad for the environment). Actual Metro trains require about the same infrastructure, can carry a lot more people and only need two motors for units up to 10 carriages! It is also known that less bigger motors are more efficient than multiple smaller motors. This will also need less maintenance and have a lower chance at breaking down as the more motors you have, the more maintenance you must do and it has more areas for a fault to happen. Did I mention low capacity as well? Well yeah these things are low capacity. Each carriage is smaller than a bus (which typically can carriage like 80ish people at max), and come in 4 carriage units. Meanwhile trains like the Brisbane NGR700 train can carry up to a 1000 people in 6 carriages. When it comes to rideship do not expect much. The Miami Metro Mover has 3 lines and has a annual ridership of 5 million per year, which sounds like a lot until you compare it to systems like the Budapest M3 Metro which is only one line and has a ridership of 600,000 people PER DAY. Just build a god damn train, plus it is ugly as hell.

When I drove ride share in SD, I had no problems getting in and out of the airport. I doubt very much if those going to North County will want to ride the people mover into the train station to catch a train going north and then get a ride home. They'll still be willing to pay the price to get a ride door-to-door from the airport to home.

Looking in from the outside and having the pleasure to have visited the area last winter, wouldn’t it be significantly more prudent to build the APM from one of the existing Blue & Green Line trolley stations a ways closer to the airport than Santa Fe? I trust frequency on said trains is frequent enough to justify the transfers from either Amtrak, Coaster, or other areas the trolley and/or buses serve… and it sounds like the latter is increasingly expanding BRT inbetween corners of town where LRT doesn’t serve…

No really the only other station is midtown and old town which are on the opposite side of the runway from the terminal so to keep it grade separated and not foul the runway you kinda need to run downtown
