I think you are mistaken. CHIP is NOT a new protocol. It will use Thread! Plus it will use WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, etc. CHIP is a project to open up the protocols. With Erro, Google Home, & now HomePod mini now with Thread, its not flash in the pan. Its just the start. Why would they put in a brand new product if they knew CHIP was going to replace it. Doesn’t make sense.
@AutomateYourLife3 жыл бұрын
Chip is s new protocol that uses Thread, Bluetooth and Wifi. No ZigBee. You can go read the stack/documentation if you want!

Great balanced review. Love mine, already had 3 HomePods for music but had to have an echo device in every room for smart home automation and control. With the HomePod mini and the improvements to Siri in iOS14 for smart home control I have been able to remove all of the Echo devices apart from the ones in the kids rooms, and have transitioned my smart home to completely run on HomeKit (with non native items being added via HOOBS).

And that's how you do it exactly!! Good stuff sir, and I think Apple's headed down a good path with this new speaker. Just needs more time and effort :)

Picky picky! LOL I agree with you I can see your points. Once again you did a wonderful job bring you out all the good and bad. But you do understand about that wire. Apples have stems and they are not removable they are in the Apple and once you pull it out there broke off. You did a super good job have a wonderful day. Ya, no mute button/switch, I'm out sorry apple. The mute switch is something I use regularly with google nest mini. And my favorite is when the google commercial comes on about the nest audio and says hey google and it wakes my best mini up. So annoying, you would think that google knows that people have google products already in their house.

I am not OCD, but I agree with the mismatched adapter gripe. That would drive me nuts to the point of buying a black adapter. You are totally right about that not matching the Apple design ethos. Steve is rolling in his grave. Apple needs a display device as well. At this point it just seems that platform is falling behind.

Too little, too late by Apple. I use Google 98% of the time and my single Echo screen the rest of the time. Can't see where Apple fits in this especially with their closed wall garden. Thank you for buying this, so I don't have to.
