I have four of these and while they've kept my batteries tended well enough, I discovered they don't fully charge AGMs (even at the 'star' setting). All of them go to green LED too soon and you can easily be fooled into thinking it has done its job. It hasn't, and the only way to get an AGM up properly is to leave the charger connected for a couple of days with the green on. I got fed up with this and bought another charger that does the job better.

I have also got another more specialized one from Well, it allows specific selection of AGM / GEL / Normal lead acid batteries, beside the two charge currents and 6/12V modes. It also has a small LCD and shows the battery voltage and level. I haven't did a review for that, but maybe one day I will. I have also upgraded my newer reviews with full voice over and are more detailed.

Thanks for video, I was not sure this model can do AGM as I have lost the manual. Thanks for sharing your experience with AGM charging. Now I am biased whether to buy a new charger for my AGM or not, and which one to get.

I have the same charger and Still work after 4 yers. But I thin is only for small battery’s. I bought Audi diesel with bigger battery and full charging take really long time . Anyway is worth the money.

Yes, the charge current is not very large so the bigger the batty the longer the charge time, still quality wise it is good, especially for its price.

I Noticed this chargers have a chronic problem with the button switch failing. If the Button doesn´t respont when pressed , ask a technitian to change it

Mam taki i zaraz po dwóch latach wystąpiły kłopoty z przełączaniem zakresu ładowania.Używam go kilka razy w roku szczególnie zimą a tu nagle uszkodził się prawdopodobnie przełącznik.To duży mankament jak i jego za wysoka cena w stosunku do niskiej trwałości.Może ktoś z innych użytkowników doda tu swoją opinię.

Hello ! I have used mine about a lot of times until now and it's working OK. I have charged different batteries with it, from a small 12V 1.2 Ah SLA to a 95 Ah Car battery. I have used it also on the car, without disconnected the battery cables, it also worked flawlessly.

i purchased this charger at my local super market ( Lidl) it is for the price a good charger accept for the fact that it does not have a desulfating option while boost or floate charging, also it gives a measured output of max 2,8 amps at bulk...

Yes, sadly the desulfating option is only automatically triggered if the battery is too discharged.

juan def Actually the CTEK ones have the same MPU algorithm as this one from LIDL. CTEK excels only at being highly overpriced for what it offers.

open it and spray under membrane of the button with contact spray. If it doesnt help change the switch. Well known problem with that old type of charger. I fixed mine with spray

Using this charger to charge a motorcycle battery which is flat, but when I plug it in the green light stating 'full' comes on, any ideas?

Did you push the mode button ? When you initially plug it it it's starts in stand-by.

TechTronic9000 yeah set it to the bike mode, the orange light stays on 'charging' for a few seconds then quickly changes to the green 'full' light. Charger may just be faulty. As far as I know it still trickle charges in maintenance mode whilst the green light is on so it should still provide a charge?

Am nevoie de ajutor, cu acumulator de 6v e ok, incarca si trece in Full ; cu acumulator de 12v se aprinde led-ul de 6v iar cand se aprinde si cel de 12v se anclanseaza un releu si trece in Fault...O zi buna, multumesc.

Daca acumulatorul este de capacitate mica (4-5Ah) sau daca este prea descarcat (cel de 12V) atunci detectia automata nu merge corect. Posibil ca bateria respectiva sa nu mai fie buna oricum. Ca metoda de salvare trebuie folosita o sursa cu un curent mic si tensiune fixa si abia dupa o perioada se poate conecta incarcatorul automat.

To anybody who understands batteries and how they work that video said nothing. Showing a few different voltages has no real meaning. That can be done with virtually any charger. ( Also DESULPHATATION is not an ENGLISH word. It does not exist. )-- Rather like the information the add tries to give you.

Thanks for your reply, the video above only shows the unpacking and general use of the product (charging a normal discharged battery) as for technical specs: From it's user manual: regenerating / charging empty (used, overcharged) 12V batteries The battery charger detects the battery voltage automatically once the battery charger is connected to a battery and the charging process has started. It changes to pulse charging mode if the voltage is in the range of 7.5V ± 0.5 to 10.5V ± 0.5V. This pulse charging process is continued until the battery voltage has increased to 10.5V ± 0.5V. As soon as this state is reached, the battery charger switches into the normal charging mode that you selected earlier. Now the battery can be charged quickly and safely. Most empty batteries can be charged and used again using this procedure. The producer even bothered to print on the box a small graphic with time / voltage / amps regarding charging mode / state.

If the battery is over discharged it is possible for it to not revive it. You can try the 6V program first and later switch to 12V.

Use jump leads from a car battery for Say 20 mins and then try the charger. It worked for me. That way you are not trying to charge a completely flat battery so the charger should start operating. I am an amateur car mechanic...

That happens when the battery is completely dead, sadly you can't do much, but try to find a "dumb" charger that will output current and voltage regardless of the battery state. Having such a discharged battery is probably better to replace as it might have sulfate irremediably.

If i understand correctly (from Google translate) you are not getting 3.8 Amp current going through your battery. The 3.8 A current is the maximum that can be provided when selecting Mode 3 or 4 and when the battery is in just discharged but in good condition. When the battery sulphates or is over discharged, the initial current will be smaller until the controller decides it can switch to maximum current (if calculated safe).

+Aki Ami Masen Indeed some batteries are specially made not to be opened without massive damage. I try to avoid buying this model as from my experience regardless of how good the battery and the charging systems are it will still loose some amount of water over it's lifetime. Just use demineralized water, never put acid in it as it can get hot, explode or melt.
