Very nice! Those seemingly solid platforms really keep the mice from becoming skittish. So far, the best of the best go to: 1) Electric shocker dome. 2) Automated trigger-sensing treadmill. 3) Automated trigger-sensing rolling log. I like the shocker dome due no moving parts to break or spook the mouse/rat. The shocker dome is also immune to critter size differences when built to rat dimensions.

meh it’s an indoor shopping centre in which stores rent space in the shopping centre instead of having a store on a high street. Malls were popular in the 70s and 80s as a hub for communities to meet. However there has been a slow decline in people going to malls to socialise / shop as the rise of online shopping continues. Depending on where you are in the world some may still very active while others are in decline or close down. The ones in decline are known as “Dead malls”. Dead malls have a small cult following as they are a small piece of when times were different.

1:55 - The vast majority of "motion sensors" aren't actually _motion_ sensors, they're differential temperature sensors. In other words, they'll detect if something hot appears in front of a colder background (or vice versa), so they would work fine with a conveyor belt. Also, it's trivial to program the controller so that "after activating the motor, wait 10 seconds before checking the sensor again", so any type of sensor could work, really. Given the "tunnel" design, the most reliable type here would probably be a break beam sensor. From an electronic point of view, these things are really easy to design and program. It's much harder to design and build a fully automated mousetrap that doesn't rely on motors and sensors, and does it job using just gravity and finely-balanced mechanisms.

"so they would work fine with a conveyor belt" Certain PIR motion sensors do not work reliably even when exposed to some airflow or vibration. Schawn had his bad experiences with this and showed it in a video (see video at second 52): kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5etfJd7gZ6LhMk

Thats one trap that would probably scale up well to catch rats if he made a bigger one. No indication that theres anything dangerous about it till they are too far inside to outrun the belt once triggered. a larger one would still work on mice as well as long as that triggering system could detect them as well.
