Automatic pool water level on an summer escapes series pool

On an intex pro series pool Automatic pool water level for when it rains.

This is a great idea... because if the water lever gets too high from rain, etc., the system WON'T properly filter. But, an easier way to do it, is to drill three holes (quarter or half inch?) around the perimeter of the filter basket at the level you want it. That is so much simpler, and works perfectly!

Cord Coslor when you're in the pool the level of the water rises and when you're swimming around. A lot of water will get out if you do not turn off valve. That's why I didn't just drill holes. Second reason didn't want water up against the foundation of house. Third reason was going to plant grass there so didn't want chlorine to kill grass. Thanks

Also, is the only reason why you didn't just drill an overfill hole and call it a day because you didn't want the water to just drain below the skimmer? So you attached the hose so it would be carried to the drain? Because I don't see any reason, other than wetting the ground around the pool, that you couldn't just drill the hole and be done.

I disagree with the term, "a lot." You'd probably lose about as much as you would just from splashing around anyway. It's just curious that of all the millions of pool skimmers around the world, you're the only person to have this "problem."
