You can but it's not really necessary unless it's damaged

So this transmission take 3.5 quarts total? Why did you skip the part about have front wheels up and cycling through park, neutral, drive?

No. That's not total. That's how much comes out when you drain it. Probably about 10 quarts still stay in there. You need to do a change every 20-30k miles . You will never get ALL auto trans fluid out of ANY car with a gravity drain.

If you want to avoid going under the vehicle, buy a fluid extractor. It comes with a tube that you can put into the fill plug. So much easier than getting under the car.

A fluid extractor is NOT the right tool for this job. Transmission fluid is not like engine oil in the sense that it always ends up in different areas of trans and transfer case. That's why there's no dipstick usually. You drain it and refill the exact amount that came out

Yes I agree about the transmission oil is different from motor oil but if I use fluid extractor and replace the same amount then Im good. You could do this three times and get the same result as draining from plug....@@alex042687
