I do the same thing with my CVT AWD Nissan Juke, About to go out and do a drain and fill today.. My car has full bolt On's and has been Dyno tuned to 265 AWDHP, and 256 AWD Wheel Torque.. I "Gained" about 120 foot lb's of torque to the wheels. Very nice sleeper.. I do a drain and fill usually at the end of June right before the super hot months.. That's when the fluid burns up and breaks down the most in the hot summer months.. Now people who live up north with Jukes or Rogues and have cooler weather and mild summers tend to see there CVTs last twice as long.. Because it's not burning up as fast.. I have been using AMsoil CVT fluid for about a year and a half now.. And I have no scientific way of proving it's better than the NS2 my car calls for other than it feels like it holds and grips the belt about 25 to 30% better than the Stock stuff does.. If you are on a Tune where you are making 50/60 more WHP then stock I would highly recommend using AMSoil.. The problem is when switching over you have to do 3 drain and fills right away and then do a couple more over the next year here and there to get the rest of the old stuff out.. Finally think of it like this.. This fluid is more for (protection) then pressure.. Think of this fluid like Motor oil.. You wouldn't drive around with burnt motor oil so don't do it with your CVT.. Please understand that if you have a heavy foot, You will burn that CVT fluid up with a year of using the Car, It's a fact.. Me personally think Drain and fills should be done every 15K to 20K and the Very minimum.. For me I do it under 10K..

Some people are convinced the Nissan Fluid NS-1, NS-2, or NS-3 is the only thing that should be used because "Nissan knows what they are doing." Nissan says in their own catalogue you can use other aftermarket CVT Fluids. Thanks for doing the research for us and sharing. My 2019 Nissan Maxima XL 3.5L thanks you. Greetings from Egypt. I am a new owner of the Renault Duster, or Dacia Duster as it’s known in Europe and other places around the world. The Duster here only comes with a 1.6 L engine and a Jatco CVT transmission. This is not my first CVT, I used to have a Honda HRV 2005 and I regularly maintained its transmission by changing oil and filter every 40 000 kilometers. The car never broke down and worked fine for 150K until I sold it. My experience with the Honda CVT made me confident that the duster CVT transmission maintenance should be fairly simple. So I after I bought my Duster, I called my local Renault service shop to discuss the car and when I asked when would be the first CVT fluid change, he said never... and he continued to say that the head office informed him that the fluid and filters will not be changed and that if any owner changed the fluid their car would lose the warranty.... I’m confused 🤷♂️

Hi My friend. Good info as usual. Just a quick note. At 10:30 you talk about CST higher numbers removing heat better. It is actually the opposite. Higher viscosity retains heat and does not remove it as well as thinner. Not that it would honestly matter at such a small difference. 6.2 -7.1 cst at 100c is not much of a difference at all. Heat transfer coefficient reduces with increase in viscosity of fluids, which is basically due to more intermolecular forces, which perturbs the motion of molecules and hence, the convective mode of heat transfer is reduced

What is the expansion rate on CVT fluid? If you have 1 liter at 72 degrees F, then heat it to 150 degrees F, does it increase volume by 3%, 5%, more? The reason I ask, the factory makes it impossible to measure the fluid since there is no dipstick. They further state that the transmission must be at a very specific temperature range to check the fluid level. You can't access that data on a typical tablet hooked to the OBDII port. I use my hand to ensure the pan is warm but not hot, then check the fluid level at the overflow, but I would feel better knowing what the expansion rate is.

Do I need to flush the OEM CVT fluid before I use the new Amsoil CVT fluid or is it ok to mix the new Amsoil CVT fluid with what will be left of the old OEM CVT fluid inside the CVT transmission? My 2015 Nissan Altima OEM CVT fluid is Nissan NS-3. Regards.

You don't need to flush. It is OK to mix.
@andygold4 жыл бұрын
If you drain from the bolt at the bottom of the pan, you will probably only get about 3.5 quarts of fluid out of the transmission. The transmission holds somewhere around 7 or 8 quarts total (sorry, I forget exactly how much... But it's at least double of what will drain out the pan.)

I was just wondering if you ever did this oil change in your 2015 Altima using the Amsoil and how it worked out for you if you did. I just bought a 2017 Altima and will be looking to change my fluid in the spring, but am a little reluctant with all the fear-mongering about only using Nissan fluid. Thanks.

My question is; since I’ve never changed the fluid. Is it okay for me to use the aimsoil? If so my manufacturer manual states NS-3; which CVT from Aimsoil is compatible with NS3? Again, thank you in advance for your feedback repairvehicle.

Drain and Refill the fluid, drive for about 500 miles then drain and fill again. I guarantee you that the second draining will be dirty. Then every year drain and fill once per year and use amsoil CVT fluid. Your transmission will love you back with reliability.

@@repairvehicle The CVT is Ok when the vehicle is driven normally. But the WRX was created to be driven. What I have meant in the earlier thread is that when pushed to it max, I felt the belt slipping for the 1st time ever. So I am taking it easy till I get sourced a High Torque CVTF, cause my dealer is not sourcing these for economic reasons, while it is his responsibility. I have compared the Motule CVTF Multi to HT, and the published data between these 2 is very similar. However, they oils compositions is not fully disclosed as we know it. The vehicle CVTF capacity is around 13 US qt. around 12.5 L, and replaced it at 75000Km. Am not towing anything with the vehicle and its condition is mint.
