So, to answer the question about Xbox that's a no, in survival mode any way. since you need build vision, (which is a mod) there is no way to attach the piston to the Rear of the machine. there is no vanilla "attach" setting in vanilla survival Xbox. So unless you make a true "vanilla" blueprint for survival mode, it won't work. I'm going to try to build the rear of the machine off of the piston and duplicate your timer block settings. if that doesn't work, I will use merge blocks between the piston and the rear of the machine; the rear will just sit 5 meters further back than your original design. And if that doesn't work, you probably won't hear back from me. Wish me luck!

Thanks for letting me know Hyper Threat, now when the question is asked, I can answer with some certainty. Attaching that piston was an error on my part, I used build vision, but in my mind you could do it through the control panel like rotors and hinges, which of course you can't. I don't think it's too much hassle just to rebuild the back end, only a couple of timers which have their programming in the description. Good luck.

UPDATE - Does work on Xbox vanilla survival: Need to add landing gear to the bottom of the whole grid and turn it into a platform (Xbox wont let you convert it if any part of the grid is touching ground. The piston that moves the machine needs to be retracted and a new blueprint made before building in survival. Also timers are needed to step the drill in 1.2m increments so it doesn't bury into the wall you are mining. Apparently Xbox Doesn't believe in Physics, Fluid dynamics, applied pressure or true Kn. you can do all this in creative then build it in survival. For attaching the drill head, you say to add a small grid rotor head, but in the video the rotor part that appears looks different than what does in the game when adding a small rotor head. Additionally, the small Conveyor Junction will not attach to the rotor part that does appear in the way shown in the video. The blueprint for the drill head if pasted into creative shows it has an Advanced Rotor Part 3x3, so I assume this is the rotor part that needs to be added into to add the small projector?
@Wellington60122 жыл бұрын
Ah, yes, that'll be because on the recent Most Wanted update now adds the 1x1 head by default, rather than the 3x3 liked it used to. A work around might be adding the 1x1 head, some blocks for spacing, a small battery, projector and finally a landing gear on the front. Use the big piston to push the small grid forward and stick it to the voxel or a place block with the landing gear. Detach the rotor and retract the piston leaving enough room to project/weld the blueprint. Position the blueprint so the 3x3 rotor head shaft is in the same place as the 1x1 rotor head, then it will be in the right place lined up to extend the piston and reattach. Edit - actually now I think about it, the 3x3 head and conveyor junction is only there to adapt down to 1x1 anyway, and is surplus to requirement now. Just put a couple of 1x1 conveyors on the 1x1 head to create some space between the rotor and spinning arms, then just projects the arms onto that and do away with the 3x3 parts.

After rebuilding the drill head 3 times in survival because I didn't pay attention to the orientation of the conveyor junction on the small rotor head, I finally got this machine going! I don't have build vision so I just removed an replaced the conveyor junction, timers, and landing gear onto the repositioning piston, and then set the timers up by your notes.. its chugging along now! But the drill head piston seems to be extending too quickly and the drills are getting too deep into the rock and binding up. It's set at 0.1m/s though. Would adding more drills to the shorter row like the full row help?
@Wellington6012 Жыл бұрын
Great to hear you got it working. Advice a bit late now, but if you have any issue that require the drill head to be disconnected, you don't need to rebuild. Just put a small battery, piston and landing gear on the drill head and stick it to the wall in front, then you can pull the drill head out of the main rotor and put it back in. The main piston should push very slowly, slower the better, 0.1m/s is more like a rotationless plunge speed. I forget the speed, but I would be thinking more a long the lines of 0.01m/s or 0.1m/s in the time is takes to do a quarter rotation. Speeding it up and slowing it down with the timer can be confusing, because of subtracting negatives, just use speed up/slow down, never reverse on this set up.

Hi Capjlp. First, have a read through the comments here, the demo video and the steam workshop page, there's quite a bit of trouble shooting available. For the piston not moving, you need to figure out whats not moving, whether it the landing gear section, or the main section. sometimes the grinder or merge blocks block collide and prevent it from moving, or there is a bug where an individual block might stay as a static [station] grid. For the speed of the piston, probably a setting, confusing and easy for it to go wrong. ie slowing down while in reverse makes it reverse quicker. Maybe set it to go forward at correct speed, delete the reverse/retract, instead, decrease the speed, 0.05 will become -0.45, then when it ready to go forward again, increase the speed to reset.

@@paulcharteris9864 Right, it sounds like a bug that sometimes appears. If you check the comments on Steam workshop and youtube, it may give some advice, but in a nutshell, most of the time this machine works flawlessly, occasionally it doesn't, but it's random and not the fault of the design. For instance, in creating the how-to guide, the first machine just kept going on and on and on by itself without issue, whereas the second didn't push a couple of times out of about 20 pushes, same with the prototype on Hephaestus Prime, didn't push 2 or 3 times out of about 150 pushes. Seems like some individual blocks on the machine remain a station and don't convert to a ship when the merge unlocks, for me it was a single welder. Replacing that single block worked for me, an alternative fix that seems to work is cut and paste a new version, just stick a landing gear on the drill head and stick it to the wall and detach rotor so you don't have to re-weld that.

Hi Shoobox. So the drill goes forward, triggers the sensor and retracts, but the rear piston isn't pushing the whole machine one block forward? I found sometimes the grinder wasn't getting the merge block out of the way quick enough and would catch, causing the rear landers to unlock. There was no rhyme or reason why some machines did it, whereas identical machines worked fine (I had two pasted side by side). Try manually grinding the merge block off, see if that works one time, then a permanent fix for that is on timer #1 to turn off the landing gears after locking, timer #5 turn them on again before unlocking. The mod.io version has already been updated with this change, but steam uploading not playing ball for me right now. Another thing I'll mention, on my original version on Hephaestus Prime, occasionally one of the welder blocks turned itself in a station, not the whole grid, just the one block, had grind it off and replace. Not stuck that on this version, but haven't run them as long as the Hephaestus one either.

The only thing I'd suggest, and I realise you've probably tried numerous things already, is just manually trying to do a cycle to move the pistons, machine etc without the use of timers, to rule them in/out. Also I didn't realise the master button was in the DLC, all it does with the action ON/OFF for a simple group containing the piston, drills and rotor. Sorry I can't be more help than that :-(

Has anybody built this on the xbox

Hi Maddogmark. While I haven't personally built it on Xbox, it is vanilla and no scripts. Several have asked the question already, no one has come back and said it didn't work. The only thing is if projecting in survival mode, you need build vision mod to be able to attach the piston to the piston head, or just build separately 2x landing gears, 1x connector and 2x timers.

There was a very occasional bug when I first built this that would keep certain blocks a station when unmerging. [Anecdotally] it seems like this happens more often, maybe something changed in a recent update?

@@Wellington6012 not sure the timers have the welders as unknown. Don't know how to fix that. I'm sure that's the problem.

The welders should be in a group, which generally means they stay in the timers a lot better than individual blocks, which can confuse the timer if they get unmerged or rebuilt. On the steam workshop page description, all the timer programming steps are written out. @@vorcrogaming3055
