Automatic Villager Crop Farm in Minecraft 1.21 - Java and Bedrock!

An interesting observation; if you put the villager to 'receive' drops in first, the other one might not take his prfession. So if that's the case, block up line of site for a moment. And, as others have said, trade with your farmer to lock him in. This can resolve the 'he's not throwing the drops' issue. There may also be a thing where the farmer's inventory needs to be full before he starts sharing?

Solution for everyone saying it’s not working! : make sure to place beds somewhere near the villagers, make sure they can’t sleep. When you see green particles above both beds the farm should start working. Edit : also make sure that the farmer villager has filled up his inventory with carrots then he will start throwing carrots to the other villager

You may need to place a couple beds in the farm so it starts to pass the items to the other in the cage

I’m having a lot of issues with this build maybe someone can help me. I wasn’t getting any drops for awhile so I started observing and I saw that when the farmer goes to drop the potatoes to the other villager, he just picks them back up? I checked that everything works, dropped potatoes into the minecart myself and it went through. He also just randomly stops being a farmer and I have to re place the composter

To help with him dropping hos farmer job, you need to trade with him once to lock his profession into place

Mine tend to work for a little while and then they stop working, I’ll end up with one or two carrots every hour

I have built it and it does work though I did it a bit differently. I don't use the minecart dropper under the villager I just instead use normal droppers going into the chest with the villager standing behind a fence (the fence goes over the hoppers) though it seems to have stopped working now and I'm trying to figure out why but I suspect it might be because my farms are too close to my villager trading space

@Games_By_Proxy thanks I tryed fresh villagers but it broke my iron farm cause it was to close so am going to try it again soon the way you said to see if that works I only wanted the farm so I can make a huge cow farm

@@cjclarke5246 villagers won't throw wheat instead they'll turn it into bread. If you want to make an iron farm it has to be 150 blocks away from your villager farms and breeders otherwise it might conflict with your iron farm

Its because the villager needs to fill his" inventory " with the crops before he starts sharing

Somewhat right about the villager inventory. A villager will still share crops before his inventory fills, he just first needs to have enough to deem his ownership a surplus.

It could be that you have mob griefing off. I think villager harvesting/planting is considered mob griefing

Thank you wesley as soon as I turned that google with mob briefing it started picking up crops immediately although he's not sharing with other villager yet at least it's picking up crops lol

i observed but very minimally. it seems like it really did affect it. the effect was low efficiency. i was getting less crops with one hopper minecart than placing two. though, the build still works.

Check whether you have the "mob griefing" gamerule active. A villager picking up your crops might be considered griefing by the game, and you will need to turn this setting off.

If someone can help me please reply: the farms were working great at first but now my potato and carrot farmers won't pick up and share the crops anymore though my beetroot farmer is throwing beets at the villager. I do have a villager breeding/trading space kind of close but it's underground, so might that be the problem? The beet farm is further away from it so I suspect that might be why. The farmers in the farms do trade what they are actually farming so I don't know why they won't share crops anymore. They literally leave the crops all over the farm which tells me they're full but won't share. Is the farm perhaps too big and I need more receiving villagers or should I move the farms further away?

Idk if this still works or if someone will reply but I have like 6 villagers there all in different rooms and each room has a villager behind a hopper and they all have full inventory’s but they don’t give give it to the villagers behind the hoppers instead they try to give each other the food through the walls they all just get stuck in corners I’m I only supposed to have 2 villagers or make more space between them?
