Having grown up in that era....I completely agree. While the '60s had dominant seasons of a single driver and car, there was never a decade where more drivers had a shot at winning then that decade. I feel so blessed to have witnessed it.

From the classic original IMSA from 1971 to 1998 and new IMSA from 2014 onwards. My favourite races in IMSA are the Daytona 24 Hours, the 12 Hours Of Sebring and of course the Watkins Glen 6 Hour held at The Glen. My favourite World Endurance Championship or WEC for short is every single one from 2012 to present day. Watkins Glen AKA The Glen in Upstate New York, where they make steamed hams, is the best race track in the United States of America. Also, Francios Cevert is the greatest French person of all time, apart from Rene Arnoux, Alain Prost, and Albert The 5th Musketeer AKA Albert De Parmagnan. And also, 1989 is the best Le Mans ever, along with 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1981, 1994 and 1995. The Le Mans 24 Hours is my favourite race of the year and my favourite sporting event of the year too. Le Mans is my favourite race track in the world along with The Glen AKA Watkins Glen and Bathurst. Jim Clark and Ayrton Senna are two of my favourite drivers of all time. Thinking about the 70s was a comeback in the sporting world. NFL had the weakest air game after 20 years (less than at 50s and 60s), nascar cars became slower and less powerful, f1 races became shorter and f1 drivers stopped racing 24 hours lemans and the WEC, the le mans prototype became easier to drive (after the s5.0 class was banned), indycar drivers stopped competing in the daytona 500 and riverisde, end of the f5000, canam , end of transam mucle cars ,

At least you had the dignnity of dwelving into the sport BEFORE massification of TV. Hate these "best" lists based solely on TV transmission. Having said that, there is no such thing as a "best era" of racing. Racing is awesome. Period.

Reliability permitting, I think that had Clark lived, he could well have taken EIGHT driver's championships. He was certainly THAT good. 1962, 1963, 1965, 1968, 1970 and 1972, 1974, 1977, all with Lotus.
