The cars are actually built to crumple so that they absorb the impact and, hopefully, not the driver. That being said, when (the now driverless) #308 took a 2nd hit from #999 there was NO survival space in that car! Good job the driver of #308 had already exited the car! It's also built like that to please the spectators. Apparently, European spectators don't want to be able to still recognise the make and model of a car after a demolition derby! That being said (again) #999 is a Dodge Diplomat I think! God knows what #308 was!
