The best part is found in the "sleeper" thing. It's hard to call out any car with so much visual effort to make 'em look fast as a "sleeper" yet most of us know full well what was going on in 1979. When you see a late 70s model Trans Am or Z/28 you expect no power at all. Then this happens......that's a "sleeper"!!

@rajcam807 ай бұрын
@@midnight347 That is a true statement. I had these cars back in the day, they lacked everything. This car is a full package.
@Dogboy19606 ай бұрын
@@midnight347 They didn't have this engine but Government in the way is the only reason they didn't at least come closer. In 1969 you could get an aluminum ZL1427 or an L88 Iron block that make power the "old school" way with big displacement and a lot compression and cam. Imagine a world 10 years later, 1979, without emissions having killing everything. 755 super charged in a light weight high tech package wasn't gonna happen by then but could 500-600HP in a raw, big block have happened.......probably. Once again.....let Government into your business and expect everything to go into the toilet. Mean while. In the 1980s I saw plenty of cars EXACTLY like this with engines set up by the owner running up to 400HP small blocks They didn't perform like this but they were doing 12-13 sec 1/4 miles and retaining the stock outside appearance. Pretty good for guys having to re-imagine the good looking car they owned that couldn't get out of it's own way with a sub 200HP low compression sad sack 350.

Between Art Morrison and Roadster Shop, the muscle car was given new life. The ability to haul ass AND corner! With great brakes, great handling, great power and torque, and great looks. One of my favorite muscle cars ever made. My best friend's dad had a 78' or so that someone dropped a 400cu.in. GTO motor into in the 80's and it was a little built and was bright assed yellow. Shag carpet on the head liner and all! That car would pin me to the seat we he got on it. It had a broken speedo as well, so he just kept up with traffic. Very fast great looking car! Personally, my favorite Camaros are the 70 1/2, 71', 72', and 73'. That vulture beak front end, that long body style, and in a GM/Chevy Black Cherry Metallic with some sweet OG Kragers or Center Lines or kindey slot mags... Just gorgeous! Great work roadster shop, it's beautiful and very nicely done without being tacky or overdone!

"It nails the era". I was thinking of something cool to say about this car, but it was already said early in the vid. This car came out when I turned 16 and got my license. Every teenage gearhead I hung out with wanted a gen 2 rubber faced Camaro. '79 Camaros don't get better than this. What a great evolution of the original design. This is the Kay Parker of gen 2 Camaros.

Brings back memories! Love these guys work as I was restoring muscle cars and classics for 35 years. Everything in today world going old style car, new style chassis, mew type LS engines. I've preached for years all these would get popular and the late 70s early 80s Iwas on a oval track crew ,and I did all the areo packages and ground effects to make a car handle. These cars hold a special place to me. While I was in Pensacola for alot of years the last few finally got to build a garage. Was able to collect a few for parts cars, and scored a nice original 81 that had sit along time under a carport. Solid body, all original perfect shape, door hinges, ball joints ect. Got it for a good buy and after inspection it had the typical front end problem, with nose sticking out in weather, rain had worked it's way down window post, got part of floor, and nose was sun rotted, got a replacment nose, patch pans, kids that had it put exhaust turn downs under back seat and rotted back seat pans, got a doner car, replaced and molded in all pans, and was ready for sand down and paint! Had a 010 4 bolt main block in it. Collected a couple SS montes. Had to do a customer 70 chevelle to make a couple bucks to work on my cars finally. Few months later wife has 2 back to back operations, got neurontin and the trouble began. She files for divorce, fought a 2 year court battle with a corrupt southern black judge. Lost everything but my cars. Stored them and with no place to put them but old boss outside wear house I had to leave town, storage place for parts, 10 years have passed and don't know if I still have it! It's 900 miles away and need to get there to see. Meantime bonecancer has caused problems in my leg, makes it hard to do those things. Everytime I see a 78 to 81 I think of my Z. Can build anything today! That engine was built into a 355 roller motor 525 lift cam. Still on a run stand waiting for a car. Love this build! Power and goes straight. Best of the best!

Better go ck on that car make sure nobody liened it for storage cant trust anyone these days Same story here Work your whole life to be set...then lose it that fast over some broad that was only ther efor the ride and what they can get out of it. Great platform from an upgrade/ full restoration. Finally, there is performance that can catch up with the looks that it had originally. 11:45 Helmholt Resonation also gives a small "turbo-like" effect for a short duration. It's one of the keys to what made the Gen1/Gen2 Taurus SHO's such special cars in their day.
