Damn, I’m a 56 year old man and this interview just had me smiling ear to ear. I’ve always been a huge fan of the Nova, body style, Olds Omega or the Pontiac Ventura. Never got the chance to buy one, had friends and family who owned some real beauties. One of the fastest cars I was in back the was an older 4 Door Chevy Nova, 307 Badging. My friend had a worked 350 in it, no fuel injection , turbo or super chargers, naturally aspirated 4 barrel. The block was all machined, balanced and blueprinted. After assembling the block he topped it all off with a Eldbrock intake and matching carb, had a mid lift cam in it, heads were all ported and polished fitted with all new parts, lifters to rockers. That thing just pulled and pulled til ya let off the gas!!

This is so much cooler than any of those high dollar show builds. High dollar being a loosely used term considering $50k isn't exactly pocket change.
@danmyers937212 күн бұрын
And that $50K doesn’t include all of the guys labor.
@gordocarbo10 күн бұрын
Not pocket change to a lot of us! If done over a period of yrs doesnt sting quite as bad. My estimate of 20k, maybe 30 for what abouts restoring mine. Tripled by the time it hit the road.

50 is cheap these days...its nuts,....but its true.....and he did alot of the labor........so its easily a 65k car.

This car was done just right in so many ways! I think that the only thing I would want to add is run scotch brite over the car and do some sort of clear coat on it to protect the remaining finish and integrity of the panels from worsening rust.

I had a 71 nova that I bought from a buddy of mine, to drive while I was building a 4 bolt main 350 but, the Nova had an engine out of a boat that spent two weeks at the bottom of Lake Fenton, just outside of flint, Michigan, We freshened up the 400 from the boat and I drove it until I got my 350 built and installed in my 69 GMC Van, I have so many different stories about the Van but I won't get into that. The Nova was hot, wish I still had it. Man I love your show, thanks for sharing all the cool cars.
