I don’t understand the whole “not a so and so fan” or “only like so and so” in terms of manufacturers in automotive terms. Car fans are car fans and although I’ve been a 4 decade Mazda addict, my love or interest and respect for a vehicle is purely how it evokes my feelings when seeing it. The brand being a catalyst that automatically lowers potential response seems more like what people do with sports teams 😂

About 40 some odd years back when I first started autocross in the Toronto area there were a few C2 and C3 Vettes that competed. One Silver C2 ran a L88 big block and flew around the courses. This car makes the memories come flooding back. What a machine that was and this is!

Shawn Davis... I will never forget the vapors... the rhythmic slams to my chest... and the deafening thunder of horsepower... indelibly being injected into my DNA... when my first L-88 build... lit off with the turn of my key. Holy shit... I had found drive... and direction. That was April of 76'... 47 years ago... I am 63, lol, and have built/co-built almost a hundred and thirty since. From the first Pantera, to SDBA wrenching on COLE Flatbottom's to the World Record Holder in Blown Fuel Hydro racing in the 70's, on to drag cars ( IHRA/NHRA ), to a Ridler coupe, to custom USAC patented winning tricks, AND EVERYTIME that I get to see a new car with you on Autotopia L.A. .... it boosts me... just like it did in 76' turning that key!!! I look forward to many more... Thank you my friend, many respects to you, Seth

Decent review, I missed the underbody shots of the steering & suspension &the accessory drive system on the engine front. I've never been a Vette fan, but this1 concentrates on tech mods &looks making it a reasonable driver's car. IDK, I might've chosen the newest gen Corvette engine & eliminated the pushrods although the 427 is 1of my old favorite big blocks. I really appreciate the A/C, the focus on big& taller driver's comfort &tech. I was waiting 2hear of SRS, seat belt tensioners, EPS, antilock, traction control, fuel cell, etc. I think that I c a hydraulic rack& pinion @3:39 nxt2 the PS pump & driver's side header.

As a high school senior in 1980/81, I bought my first car. A 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A for $900. Loved that car but, traded it straight across for a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner - 440 magnum w/ air grabber same as the Challenger. Some friends of mine that were taking automotive classes at the local college helped me go through the engine and we built the $hit out of that engine. Got divorced my senior year of college and joined the Navy. While I was in basic training my ex sold my Roadrunner. I came home before starting “A” school and was going to drive it back down to San Diego for all of my schools and then to Mayport in Jax. That never happened and to this day I miss that car and at the prices today…will never have either of those cars again. Had a VW GTI in the Navy and surprisingly that car was very fast. I have had two Corvettes as well, a C3 and a C5 ZO6 - 2002. Not a car to drive in the traffic in Seattle. 🫡👍👍👍😊

I know you're too young to understand but the 1965 Corvette with fuel injection was way ahead of its time with four-wheel disc brakes and four-wheel independent suspension and 375 horsepower. They did not need any Improvement whatsoever. They were probably the most perfect sports car that America ever produced for many many years after that. One of my favorite all-time cars.
@ljsites Жыл бұрын
@@georgespalding7640 I completely agree with you. The 65’ Corvette was a wonderful example of American automotive engineering. At the time. But, time moves on and so does technology. The Porsche 917K was also way ahead of its time. However, It could not not complete with today’s prototypes. Not comparing the two. Just pointing out technological evolution.
