You are wrong my friend, the facelift had come out of APY and took out the 225 HP engine which was BAM, the specific one that is testing is with the APX engine and was released in 1999-2000

@@MAXSpeedCars no. S3 8L have 3 types of motor codes: APY 210KM only in prelift 1999-2000r., AMK 210KM in facelift 2000r, and BAM 225KM facelift 2001-2003. APX was never present in S3. Im sure, i had S3 210KM AMK few years ago.

When I did my driving license in 2000 and driving my first car with 90 hp, such an S3 overtook me. One moment still watching it in my rearview mirror the next moment he was already flying passed me. A moment I never forgot till today! Back in these days, 225hp were Audi´s top for S3 and TT. Nowadays, this performance is not flashing anyone. Maybe just by the way, the power is generated by these old-fashioned turbo engines with big turbo lag....

I’m driving a 2003 A3 1.9TDI 130hp version. May not be that fast with 8.7 0-100 but the chasis and gearbox are really good. Gives you that sporty feel in the twisties. Super reliable car, the only thing that ever needed replacement was the turbo and a vacuum pump with 280kkm on the clock.

I drove the 224hp version a few years ago. Its enough to have fun but slower than modern cars with 200hp, you can feel the awd eating the power above 100kph.

You need a lot more money then that. Clutch needs to be replaced for sure. not sure how long the driveline is going to hold 600hp especially if you plan to launch it hard. and engine would definitely need to be sleeved + forged internals. you are looking at minimum 10k if you can build the engine yourself and probably like 13-16k if you want someone to do it for you. You would need upgraded brakes, wheels and tires and those would be 2-4k as well. Not to mention the services you need to do every like 6months depending on how much you drive to keep this car reliable. Not to mention buying a nice S3 1.8 with low milage and with no issues thats would be like 3000-10000. my opinion if you want a 600hp s3 where I live you are looking at 25-30k euro
