All vw group cars for years now have that feature for the windows in the key implemented. I use it in my Leon Cupra 300 all the time. You just keep the unlock button pressed and the windows open as long as you keep it pressed or the opposite with the lock key button...so you can adjust the windows open as much as you like. Also which window will do that is selectable from the car infosystem.

@@bavariancarenthusiast2722 So why are Mercedes cars currently one of the least reliable on the market?
@dusuandersonlee
@dusuandersonlee Жыл бұрын
@@phuketexplorer Data shows that Mercedes are used to introducing too much technology into their cars and then forget to polish it unlike Toyota. Toyota still use the old technologies they introduced many years ago because they try as much as possibe to refine it. German introduce theirs and leave it to die then they introduce another. But when it comes to Engine, they can last. We have mercedes that last over 20 years without any mechanical issues but with their built-in computer modules, they are not realiable. I also made a research and found out that. most of the computer modules are not built by Mercedes: mostly Bosch whiles Toyota Denso's is an in house technology industry. If Mercedes must be reliable again, then they should maintain their technolgies they introduce and refine it just like. the new E class they introduced will have a different OS powering the car, who does that?

As an EV owner, the answer to the question is YES, there is such a thing as too much tech. It's honestly putting me off EVs more and more as there's nothing being done about driver experience/feedback/theatre of driving. Maybe the Taycan GTS offers a glimmer of hope, but there's still a long way to go imo. Excellent review as ever though Rory!!!!

The best features I love is the the 4 wheel steering, self parking and air suspension. It’s a big car. Interior is stunning with the ambient lighting. Apps pretty useful. Only downside is cost. I went for the EQE variant which is similar spec. My issue is there way too much you can play with it’s so overwhelming. The camera system and dash cams etc are brilliant. User settings are great. MBUX system whilst great can be a bit laggy at times. Burmester system sounds phenomenal with built in subs. It even has a built in perfume air freshener system which took me a week to even realise and not sure if this is even working.

The way I see it is this… the internal combustion engine has been with us for over 100 years since the days of Karl benz . Through the 100 years, we have accrued so much knowledge and research about the internal combustion engine, we have refined them , made them sound pitch perfect. But around 2010s things changed , regulations became much more fierce ( emission and noise standards)as the media pushed the narrative of global warming ,pushing it to the forefront of the minds of people and policy makers , forcing cars to be built in a certain way . The w204 for me represents a time in car history that is the culmination of what humanity learned over the past 100 years to perfect the internal combustion and essentially jjst before all the regulations came in, or in other words , when the fruit was the ripest on the internal engine combustion tree. It also a time jjst before everything became electrified , the w204 still retains physical buttons to turn up the heat, to open the glove box to turn of traction etc , not go through endless menus via a massive screen like in modern cars. This is why I feel the w204 really captures a very unique pinnacle time on automotive history …

Fantastic engineering, or should I say programming no doubt? For me however all this tech depreciates the fundamentally important elements to a car, namely range, practically, reliability and driving dynamics. The addition of a huge array, albeit an impressive one, of electronic gubbins is sure to detract from these. I seriously doubt the range is as good as it could be, nor the driving dynamics, with all the added weight of an inbuilt ball scratcher and 13 PS5s crammed into the dash. I'm ultimately left a little cold by it all, not only because I don't particularly like the idea of AI 'monitoring' everything I do and making decisions on my behalf, but also because it feels like Mercedes have set out to build a very expensive iPad, when they should've been building a car.

It's definitely impressive as a novelty item, however this wears off rather quickly. The feature that one will use the most is the navigation - and that looks dead on arrival; the cheapest iPad currently on sale has better graphic performance than that. The lag would drive me crazy to the point to not using it. As for diagnosing and fixing this out of warranty - that should be fun! Isn't the rear steering angle enabled by an annual subscription? I thought it's limited to less than half if you don't pay.
