Hey mate, thanks for the mention! Cheered me right up👍👍 yeah I had 3 from Chandos over 2 nights in around 3 ft of water haha. Love the video on the old school gear, makes you realise how spoiled we are now. Lovely little venue Trinity isn’t it. Thanks again, look forward to your next video tight lines 🎣

Not far from where I fish shaun I fish the canal dock in bridgwater never been to that venue looks a good one I still use my old woolworths ledgering rod when I'm home gave a fiver for it in 1970 I now use it as a feeder rod and I've had many a good day with it 🎣👊💯

Never fished the Bridgwater docks or canal, walked along it a few times. I’ve got a Masterline John Wilson quiver tip from the 90s, great rod but it’s got a permanent bend as it’s caught so many fish over the years! 😂

@@TheFishingBloggers the canal dock is a very hard water for carp but if you like tench perch and pike great spot I don't drive so it's easy for me to get to you should give the dock a whirl if yr down again I'm at hinckley point working so it's my place to fish and relax 🎣👊💯

I really enjoyed this video, I think shows like Monster Carp have a lot to answer for in terms of the proliferation of 3lb+ TC rods. They have a firm them of cast to the moon, spod out an island of bait etc, which just isn't needed on most venues. A 2lbTC rod is generally fine for carp up to 20lbs provided there aren't lots of snags and its way more fun playing them on lighter rods. I just wish the manufacturers with offer up something in those lighter TCs.
@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I’ve got myself a new set of 2.75lb rods so that it’s more enjoyable on smaller venues. Fishing should be fun, I think modern anglers lose sight of of the reason we go!
@JamesThomas-wf9sl

@@TheFishingBloggers I assume those are new Prologic rods? Better than three pounders I guess. I’ve kept a pair of two pounders that I mainly use for Pike fishing. It’s a shame like I say that no one is making lighter rods these days. I’d use them for the majority of my fishing if I could.
@TheFishingBloggers

@@JamesThomas-wf9sl yea a set of Prologic C-Series 9ft 2.75lb, it’s hard to find a light rod nowadays. Better off using barbel rods 🎣

@@TheFishingBloggers sadly I think that modern gear is too brutal... rods are now in the 4lb TC bracket, huge reels, gear you would spod with only a couple of years ago... and often only used on small waters where the fish run to 20lbs or so... I'll stick with me old knackered vintage stuff ta...👍

Good job fella. Just out of interest how old are you? And how long you been Dangling? Just made me think when you kept saying 'BACK IN THE DAY' you used to use , like super specialists, surely there were newer ranges ' back in the day' or was that all that was available when you first angled for carp?

I’m 36, been fishing about 30 years. Ive been fortunate to be taken by my dad from a young age and started out with a float rod trotting on the river and learned my way through to carp fishing. I was probably 7/8 when I first went carp fishing, but didn’t do it regularly until I was probably 10.

100% 😂 nope I was fishing about 20yards on the bottom of the shelf with scalded pellets wrapped around an in-line lead. The rods were in a gap where the reeds had been flattened as back then there wasn’t a swim in sight!
