In 1927, Chiang Kai-shek betrayed the revolution, leading to the spread of the White Terror across the entire land of China. In response to this situation, the Communist Party of China convened an emergency meeting on August 7 and dispatched Mao Zedong to organize an armed uprising in Hunan for the autumn harvest. Mao Zedong decided to establish the First Army, First Division of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army, and set the uprising date for September 9, 1927.
During the uprising, Mao Zedong, Pan Xinyuan, and Chen Zhian were intercepted by Yan Zhongfu's outpost in Zhangjiafang, but they successfully evaded the pursuit of the patrol and reached the assembly point of the Third Regiment of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army in Tonggu Town. However, after attacking several key locations, the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army was surrounded by the enemy and suffered heavy losses due to the enemy's strength.
Faced with this situation, Mao Zedong carefully analyzed the situation and pointed out at the meeting that the strength between the enemy and us was disparate, and our side should first consolidate our position and preserve our strength. Subsequently, he led the troops to the weakest area of the enemy's control force, the Luoxiao Mountains, and established a Soviet regime. In the end, Mao Zedong successfully broke through the enemy's encirclement, and surrounded by hundreds of soldiers, he clearly outlined the deployment plan for the Jinggangshan, firmly stating that Chiang Kai-shek would be overthrown.
