Everything in the video is mesmerising: the landscape, the snow, the streams, the stillness of the air and the music.

Thank you Stefan! Thank you!! This was so incredible! So beautiful! Thank you very much for the most epic hike movie from Lapland ever. I’ve been hiking a lot of these lands myself but never in one and the same hike. What a hike! Waow! How many km and days? Thank you for sharing a film like this. So true. So real. No fake. No talking. No nothing but the pure wilderness. You made my eyes get moisty by tears 🤩 Really really thank you for showing us all the real beauty of Lapland. Epic!❤️🙏🏻

Many many thanks for your enthusiastic comment! I didn't expect a comment like yours 🙂. I'm really happy if it inspires people. Believe it or not, I don't do this for likes but mostly for myself, family and friends 😉. And yes, it was an awesome experience, although of course there were also uncomfortable moments.😄 To answer your questions: It was 16 days and about 220 km in total. On some days I walked only a short distance because I found a place I liked.

I was been there 28 years ago, in June 1996. But in the higher areas around Nallo it was impossible to walk, there was still al lot of soft snow. Now I will come again in End of August. But I was many times in other areas for hike. Sarek, Padjelanta, Sulitjelma, Mavas/Pieskehaure, Femundsamrka, Dovrefjell etc.

@@wildlife-tv_Bernd_AttnerHello Bernd, that sounds great. I'd be delighted if we could spend a few days up there together. Actually, I was in the area straight after my A-levels 41 years ago. I travelled over to Sweden from Narvik. And then down to Kvikkjokk. I also spent several days in the Sarek. Greetings Udo also to the film maker Stefan for a great landscape film.

Amazing journey and video. I’ve been to many of these areas skiing and trekking. But your devious route, criss crossing between these areas is staggering! I need to get the map out to trace this , it’s just incredible. Thanks for this.
@stefan.riegerАй бұрын
Thank you very much. The route changed dynamically during the trip. Originally I had a different idea but the weather conditions made my original plan seem inappropriate (at least for the first days).

So beautiful, I'll do a 2 Weeks hike from Saltoluokta to Ritsem (part of Kungsleden and the Padelantaleden) and wanted to get in the mood by watching this,...what can I say, can't wait to get to the trail after this awesome video, thank you! When did you do this trip? It looks like late in summer.
@stefan.rieger3 ай бұрын
Many thanks for your comment 🙂! This hike was in September. I really like that time of year for hiking in northern Scandinavia. The hike from Saltoluokta to Ritsem via Kungsleden and Padjelantaleden traverses a very beautiful landscape, too. I'm sure you'll have a great time! Enjoy 🙂!
Stunning video! The scene at 19:23 is just superb; I love the contrast between the autumn colours and the far snow-capped peaks. May I ask how many batteries did you carry for your camera? And did you also bring a solar charger or simply a normal one to charge them? Thanks!
@stefan.rieger2 ай бұрын
Thank you very much, Giacomo! This is the beauty of autumn, that you can have both, the beautiful colors and a fresh dusting of snow on the peaks 🙂. I brought 5 spare batteries for my Sony A7RIII but didn't use them all. I also had two powerbanks (10000 mAh) for charging other devices, but didn't empty them either. In my opinion in late summer/autumn a solar charger usually isn't worth it in the high north. In mid summer this can be different for longer self-sustained trips (for me the break-even regarding weight was about 2,5-3 weeks). During that time of year you can charge till late in the evening or early in the morning. Of course it also depends on the weight of the charger, how much power you need, etc. There are very light and cheap USB chargers (~35g), which I can recommend. My camera supports charging in camera, too. So I bring the USB charger only if I suspect that my battery supply might not suffice or I plan with a lot of charging (also via solar).

When in September did you go? I'm planning a similar trip this year and would love to hear what comfort level sleeping gear and tent you're using. Thanks a lot in advance!
@stefan.rieger2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question! My hike was from the 3rd to the 19th of September. I was using a down sleeping bag (Western Mountaineering) rated at roughly -5 °C. It lacked a bit in freezing temperatures because of its age (but I was fine with more clothing). I had it serviced since then and now it is much warmer again. My tent was a Hilleberg Unna 1 person tent. I will use the same setup (+ possibly a packraft) for this year's Lapland hike.
