Unpopular opinion: I struggle with our generation having to be so involved with world conflict on every medium - everyone on my insta is sharing stuff about what to read and what to listen to. It's like all my escapism is getting tainted with devasting world issues that I get sad about. I like having 'pockets of escapism' in between my activism and work (which also concerns world issues), so that I stay mentally sane. Does anyone relate to this at all?

yes! you put it into words perfectly! I am going through a similar slump at the moment and it's getting harder and more difficult to catch those said "pockets of escapism" in my day to day :( but anyway, hoping for the best!

I'm just obsessed with the idea of going to NYC just to shop at bookstores and thrift shops, anyone else? Just me? Especially the Ripped Bodice so I can buy all the books on my TBR. Will I ever live long enough to read them all? P.S. Thanks for talking about how the news in the U.S. doesn't really offer the greatest source when you need to to know what's really happening. I feel just as ignorant. I avoid doom scrolling as much as possible, but that doesn't mean I don't want to know what is truly happening in the world. I'll be checking out those resources, thank you.

2666 is such a terrific book, the author’s masterpiece, and one of my personal favorites. Have you ever read any other Roberto Bolaño novel? If not I would highly recommend “Estrella distante” (or distant star as is known in English), “Nocturno de chile” (or Chile by night) and of course “Detectives Salvajes” (Savages detectives) which is one of his greatest pieces. Roberto Bolaño is one of the greatest and brilliant writers of his generation, and among Latin American writers of any era. If you haven’t done it yet, do yourself a big favor and read his books, you’ll thank me later.
