@@essentialentity77 listening, practicing. vato. transcribing. or you could buy a transcription i guess and sight read it. but theory? not really. She has lots of technique. Technique is not theory, it's facility. a lot of playing, reading, practice. I have plenty of theory, but to play like this you have to practice, and listen to merengue, funk, swing ,bossa or individual pianists styles to get it. then you have to put your fingers on the keyboard in the right places over and over. and over. Practice is how. Chord voicing, scales etc. Theory only explains what you played, how to build up chords or pick notes, but it doesn't really show you how to play it, it doesn't guide you while you're actually playing and improvising. Theory tells you, accent the 4 and ,, play triplet feel for swing, use a flat 9 on the dominant chord , but the styles are defined by the rhythm mostly, not a whole lot of theory there, just time signatures and accents, clave, triplet feel whatever . Theory is not even the road or the car. Theory is just signposts along the way, and destinations and starting points, maybe the lines on the road. But the music is you, the driver, riding your car, the instrument, with the wind and the light and sound and the weather and other cars. theory will help you build a car, or make a map, but it doesnt show you how to drive. it's not driving.
