Really impressive, really enjoyed the improvisation and I've played it a lot of times myself, but I'm not improvising much at all. I can feel all the theorical work you've done in the years before, and since you can play the instrument, you simply apply your previous work on this harmonica, and here's the result. Personally I'm lacking the needed theorical work, and I don't practise much also. both don't help in improving my playing :-) Thank you for the very good video, I'm playing it once more

@@chrisbauermusic Do you find the Seydel Orchestra has a different tone than the Seydel Symphony 48? Besides the the range just the tone. Im thinking to add one to my collection
@chrisbauermusic4 жыл бұрын
mambojazz1 Not really. They are the same, just tuned differently so you can get those lower notes. Since Seydel doesn’t have a 14 hole harmonica, the Orchestra tuning range gets around that for those notes...at the expense of the higher notes.

Chris I stumbled across your videos and am just amazed at how much emotion you pull out of that harmonica. How did you pick it up? Any advice or tips you can give to people trying to learn?
@chrisbauermusic6 жыл бұрын
Sean Delaney Hi Sean. That's a great question. I don’t think it was something I necessarily learned. I think it comes from listening to other musicians and trying to emulate their style. I listen to alot of singers and try to incorporate their stylings into my music. Hope that helps.

very nice video! if you could recommend a harmonica between the saxony and the seydel deluxe steel, which would you recommend between the two? thank you
@chrisbauermusic6 жыл бұрын
Aaron Sazon hi aaron! i would say the saxony or saxony orchestra over the deluxe steel. the saxony and the orchestra are fine harmonicas
@aaronsazon28356 жыл бұрын
thank you very much for your reply. im really enjoying your playing and your videos are really helping me choose. much appreciated!
@vectortemple6 жыл бұрын
I have a good deal of experience with both. It depends what you like - the deluxe steel is lighter - acrylic comb - and the tone seems to be a little brighter/harsher than the Saxony. Saxony has a cast aluminum comb so it's a heavier and that may contribute to the more mellow, full sound it seems to have. At least with the ones I have, the Saxony seems to play easier and smoother too. I generally play the Saxony, the Steel is a backup. There is a difference in price of about $50 more for the Saxony, but if you're spending that much on a harmonica that probably doesn't make much difference. My "#1" is Saxony Orchestra - 12 holes but drops to G below C on the lower end, chops off the end of the third octave, which I never play anyhow. I would also recommend looking into bebop tuning - that needs to be done by a pro - substitute Bb for C on holes 4 and 8 etc - makes everything much easier and more logical. All the chroms I play are bebop tuned.

@s2_cool7565 жыл бұрын
hey nice playing! I'm tackling the chromatic right now. I'm trying to learn a bunch of applicable scales in all the keys. Question, I'm finding that certain keys are just awkward as hell and others seem to flow easier. Do you play different key chromatics to approach other keys better, or do you just stick with C like a master/purist haha! Anyway, I really like your playing open to any advice to a new guy. Thanks!
@chrisbauermusic5 жыл бұрын
S2_COOL Welcome to playing a chromatic! :-). Yes, there are some keys that are very awkward, typically the sharp keys like A, E, B. I don’t use chromatics in different keys usually. I use an E chromatic to play Zorba the Greek (in E). I’ve also used a Bb chromatic to play things in B. Other than that, I stick to C chromatics. Thanks for stopping by!
@s2_cool7565 жыл бұрын
Chris Bauer thanks that really helps and makes tons of sense. One other random question. I learned on a diatonic and do this tongue block technique to play, I block the hole in front and play out of the side of my mouth if that makes sense. It makes it so you can do cool blues tricks and stuff. On the chromatic do you find there is a better technique? Thanks again!
@chrisbauermusic5 жыл бұрын
@@s2_cool756 Yeah, that's another harmonica battle. I use pucker on single notes. I always found the tongue block method for chromatic to be a little cumbersome. Obviously I have to tongue block for octaves, etc. But for single notes, I pucker.
