You want to get a mortar and pestle. That way you can crush the chalk without the dust flying everywhere from the e file. You'll also need some sort of filter. A sieve isn't fine enough. If you know how fine the particles are for the acrylic, (the acrylic I use is around 60-70 microns, so I use a 70 micron filter), if you crush the chalk fine enough, the filter will only let through the finer particles and you could recrush the chalk that's left and do the same process. I use mica powders and add them to my acrylic. But like I said, I use the filter, add some acrylic powder, and some mica powder, and then use a small brush (doesn't have to be an acrylic brush any shop bought artist paint brush will do), and sweep it around to mix and push the powders together and through the filter. Also, when it comes to filters, the smaller the number, the smaller the microns. So a 5 micron filter is extremely small etc. I buy my filters from a seller on UK eBay, who makes them using pieces of pipe glued together with the filter fabric in between. They are around £7. If you look at filters for collecting water fleas and other critters, you should be able to find something. Hopefully. 👍

@@mgi6659 I think even if you are in the States, you should be able to find something under filter socks. www.amazon.com/Nylon-Mesh-Filter-Filtering-Liquids/dp/B074MZYWCD I found this. There are other sellers. Basically you'd need to cut the material away from the plastic ring, open it up, and secure it between two pieces of pipe (or something) that fit inside each other. I'd suggest something from the plumbing department or some drainpipe, maybe, and secure with some good glue around the pipe connection. Or maybe a small flour sieve, cut the original mesh out and glue in the new piece. You can make the size as large as you want. It's something I'm going to have to do as my filter is 2 years old now and isn't looking too good. 👍

@@mgi6659 ps, I'd also enquire with the company that makes your acrylic and see if they'd tell you what micron size their particles are. It'll probably be a mix from say for eg 50 to 60 microns. Some companies use extremely fine particles and others larger. But it doesn't hurt to ask. And even if they don't, these filters are fairly cheap that you could buy several in say 50 70 and 90 microns to test it. I bought 2 and the 70 was the one. 😊

I started using chalk, regular and pastels to make chalk years ago!! When you need a specific color it is a life saver.. I use a $9 coffee grinder I bought from Walmart, works wonders, I refused to use my ninja blender cup, no mam😂😂
