What I like is that Rachel does talk about different family styles like for someone like me I don’t know what it’s like to have split parents so it’s interesting to see how people coparent or different ways household are built. I know my parents had me. They’re very open about how difficult it is. I couldn’t imagine being a single parent dealing with a two-year-old and a break up😅

I think a little homework here or there is good in elementary but anything more than 5-10 min worth daily is too much. I had kids that they phased it out in elementary with and they’ve both done fine. One(named Elliott, too 😊) is now pre-med and another started high school this fall. Both excellent students. I don’t think it’s necessary for success. Plus, once they’re in high school when they start having homework regularly, they’re old enough to realize the consequences of not doing it. ❤ Thanks for another great pod!!

I had a spiritual awakening in 2020 as well. I’m so grateful to Autumn for sharing her journey. I remember feeling so isolated in the beginning. I’m glad we’re in a time where more people are sharing their spiritual journeys openly and helping to create a sense of community.

I had such bad self-esteem, I didn't take pictures of myself, even with my family, for so many years. When my husband died suddenly and our kids made a collage for his wake, there were no pictures of me, so our eldest kids told me if I didn't start taking pictures, when I died, they would draw stick figures for my collage. Stick figure mom and me at the park. My grief therapist made me take a face selfie once a week and to post it online, which was horrible, but it did help after awhile. I got so much crap from people from doing that. I was called narcissistic. I had some say I must be trying to get a new guy since my husband died. I don't date at all. I simply was doing a therapy homework to get over a fear for my children.

Nah, that birthing story is absolutely wild and amazing. And the fact that Autumn said her ex *eventually* got out of bed??? WUT do you mean??? I would've chewed a man out so bad lol. I also watched/listened to Autumn's podcast interview with Melinda Clarke, and it's been so beautiful and affirming to hear about her spiritual journey more in-depth. Also, Olivia - the story about your boys and the older one cleaning up his younger brother so that you didn't have to see it??? OMG, misty-eyed. Good energy, this one.

As the mom of many I do believe in homework, but it should just be a quick, easy assignment. The lesson should just be the responsibility of doing it and bringing it back, having the feeling of accomplishment. It shouldn't be a family struggle and stressor to complete the homework.

I can’t believe no one’s come up with a funnel attachment for toilets yet. Something like from the freaking space station where you will never have a mess cuz the funnel is always being used idk

I have to agree with Rachel that there is no point to having homework especially when you’re at college level you’re in school for hours. Why do we have to have homework outside of that? Especially when it comes to jobs and everything. The whole Mom thing. I love my target too. Maybe it’s a Rachel thing I don’t know.😅 but my siblings can go with me and they would have that same thing really like “ why aren’t you happy? This is your favorite store.” and I think it just is a bunch of like stress and everything that really does not even just on children but on others as well like friends and family that they can pick up on that

I'm with you, Rachel, homework is nonsensical and completely unnecessary. I could extemporize in grand volumes about how arcane the current US educational system is, especially now that we are going into the age of AI. But for now, I'll just say, you should feel comfortable telling your daughter that she doesn't have to do homework from now on and should tell her teachers that if they cannot teach her everything they want your daughter to know within the time they are given, then too bad. Instead, the time after school should be to explore her own interests, like athletics, gaming, drawing, dancing, etc.. I can pretty much guarantee you that activities that feed your daugther's creativity and social life will benefit her far more than some book report or geography quiz that she won't even vaguely remember 20 years from now. Instead, focus on teaching her teamwork, how to be self-starter, and, again, creativity. Those are the skills that will be treasured in an age of AI. In an age were it will be all to easy to forget our humanity, it will be our humanity that saves us.
