Autumn Salmon from The Wires

I'm out on my local river Tyne fly fishing for salmon in autumn.

Hmm, seatrout does in general want more speed and smaller flies than the salmon does. Atleast here in Norway so it would be a good assumption that the seatrout you have behave in the same way.

What length leader do you use?

Same as the rod length plus a couple of extra feet. In that case it would have been 10 feet of polyleader with 3 feet of mono.
