Grego, this piece is fantastic. I'm an old ambient music junkie (60 years old, to be exact), and if the ambient music is made with modular synthesizers, then I'm utterly in heaven. Thank you for this! Mark

@@gergofuxreiter You're very welcome, Grego. But in truth, it is I that should be thanking you! Your work brings to mind a sort of Matrix paradox in my mind. I always thought Neo's apartment was so cool. But what totally blew my mind was the fact that his apartment, and his entire life, was just an illusion, because the entire time we thought he was actually in his apartment, working on his computers, doing his hacking work, he was really in the pod. What a mind trip! And now, here I am, in my apartment, listening to your lovely music, in autumn... and autumn is my favorite season... But am I really here? Or am I actually in a pod somewhere? In truth, it really doesn't matter to me. I've always embraced the idea of eternal hibernation. Yeah, I've always been sort of a hermit. I'm most comfortable being alone. And the older I get, the more reclusive I become. One of my fantasies is to climb a tall mountain (alpine hiking is a passion of mine) and find a cave, similar to the Grinch cave, or even Zurathustra's cave, and just hibernate away from this crazy society of ours. In my little cave, your music would be playing 24 / 7, and that seclusion would be my paradise. That probably sounds crazy, I know. But it doesn't sound crazy to me. It sounds like pure tranquility. Thank you, my friend! Mark

Very nice. I just noticed last week, to my dismay, that Mutable Instruments went out of business...

Yes, I was sad to see them go because they are my favourite module brand. At least I managed to find a few good deals on some of their modules. But I hear that the clones sound just as great so not everything is lost. Thank you for listening!

Just got Mirack for the iPad (the iOS version of euro rack). This is exactly the kind of stuff I want to make with it. Haven’t arrived yet, but this inspires me to keep trying. Thank you.

That's amazing ♥ Do you have a list of the modules used?
@gergofuxreiter18 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! I have put my modulargrid page in the description, but I have updated my case since the release of this piece quite a bit. If remember correctly, these were the modules used in this video (in order from left to right): Top row: MI Stages, MI Veils, MI Links, MI Shades, MI Ripples, MI Tides, MI Rings, MI Beads Second row: Tiptop Audio Buchla 281t quad function generator, MI Branches, Instruo Ochd, Noise Engineering Lapsus Os, MI Kinks (clone), Doepfer A-156 Dual Quantizer, MI Marbles (12hp clone)

one thing I never understood is the wires and where they go!

You can think of the patchcords and the patchbay as an old fashioned telephone system. It's how the modules "talk" to each other. Their communication is how the music is made. In reality, the electronic voltage is transformed into sound. It's really pretty cool. But I agree, it's a lot to wrap your head around! I think this is why I love modular synthesis more than any other kind of synthesizer. It's the mysterious way the music is generated. In my mind, electricity is a living entity, and in so being, essentially, the modular synthesizer is also a living being, so to speak.

Very nice patch is it just stages sending the cv notes for the melody sequence ?
@gergofuxreiter Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, if I remember correctly, Stages is sending a 4 note sequence to Tides which is being modulated by Ochd.

Ads are put in by Google/KZbin, not the content creator.
@ASMRcigarlounge186514 күн бұрын
Steve, I understand where you're coming from. I think it totally sucks that KZbin does that, especially to channels that are NOT monetized. Our commercial society is driven by greed and the ability to make money. And that is totally counterproductive to those of us that create art for art's sake. But what can we do about it? We ARE on KZbin's platform and are under their thumb. Nonetheless, I love Grego's work and have subscribed to his channel. It's no bother to me to click "skip" when an ad pops up.
@ASMRcigarlounge186513 күн бұрын
PS: one more thing, Steve, you're NOT alone in your frustration. I'm sure this upsets Grego as well ~ as it does to ALL content creators. First, Grego's channel only has 297 subscribers. According to KZbin's policies, a channel needs a minimum of 1000 subscribers before it is allowed to be monetized. Yet, here we are, witnessing how KZbin makes money from channels long before they are allowed to earn a penny. It's not morally or ethically right. In my opinion, as channel creators, we should be offered a questionnaire before we even launch our channel and asked if monetization is something we want. If we choose no, then not only will our channel NEVER be allowed to be monetized, but KZbin should respect the decision of the creator and NEVER place an ad on any of the videos regardless of how large that channel's audience grows. I can't speak for everyone, but I know I am not now or ever concerned with monetization of my channel. And how lucrative are those silly ads anyway? Does anyone actually buy anything from them? I know I don't. I've been watching KZbin videos since KZbin was launched (2006), and I have NEVER watched a complete ad. I always click off. I've NEVER bought anything from a KZbin ad. So in my opinion, they only serve two purposes... 1) to waste the company's money, and 2) to annoy the viewer. If I was a company, the last place I'd advertise would be on social media.
