Hi Sarah, I was at Chatsworth last week and really enjoyed the experience. I visited with my sisters during the week I spent with them in a holiday cottage in the Peak District. The whole house and gardens are wonderful and the exhibition being on during our visit was a real bonus. It was our first visit but it won’t be our last, we definitely plan to visit this part of the country again. We were very lucky the day we went, cold, but not too much rain. I envy the people who get to live in this part of the country, although, to be fair, I live in Kent which also has many areas of outstanding beauty. 😊

Ah thank you for your comment, it really was such a lovely exhibition wasn’t it? What a lovely place to stay and visit with your sisters, I do love the Peak District. I need to visit Kent sometime too! 🥰

Aw Sarah I am so sad to have missed that exhibition. I was in tears with your synopsis of what it was about (dramatic I know but fashion just gets me.) Keep doing what you do. I was an accountant until I was 56 then went to college to study fashion and design.....ended my career as a milliner which I adored and wished I had pursued that career from school, but it really wasn't an option at the time. I love watching your vlogs and love your enthusiasm for fashion and design. ...LibbyX

Ah thank you so much!! I completely understand where you’re coming from, I am also often totally moved by fashion and design, and literally could have moved into that room!! 😂 That’s amazing that you went on to study fashion and design and had a fantastic career, I also would have loved to study fashion - there’s a very short part time pattern drafting course at a university not too far from me which I’m considering, I’m really excited to be in that environment! Not sure where you’re based, but the exhibition is on until Sunday. Failing that, there is lots of inspiration about it on the Chatsworth page which I was drooling over before I visited!! Thank you! 🥰

@@sewsarahstyle Don't think twice about doing the course Sarah. Whilst the content of the course is interesting. it's more about being with students and lecturers that think excactly the same way you do in an environment that is just natural to you. (That's the only way I can describe it_) I live in the West of Scotland and going to Chatsworth would be impossible this week but I will be taking in all the info on the exhibition from their website and might visit the house in the near future. It sounds fascinating.

@@libbykilpatrick1578Yes, yes!! Thank you that’s exactly what I’m looking forward to, being in that environment. You totally get it, thank you. I’m definitely going to book onto the course 🥰. Hopefully at some point you’ll get to visit Chatsworth, definitely look out for their exhibitions as they add even more enjoyment to the visit. 😊

Sarah your makes are amazing! I have the Ritual Dress but wasn't sure how to style it for Winter. Could you show us in a. vid how you style your Ritual dress with boots etc? Absolutely LOVE your bag. 😍 Your passion for fashion and styling is so refreshing and inspiring; you don't churn out the same as everyone else. Did you work in the fashion industry? The Dowager's passion for Elvis was really interesting.

The dress turned out amazing. The direction of the pattern works better this way, in my opinion. The fabric is beautiful. How do you always find such unique, beautiful prints??? I tend to stick to solids, bur do love some printed colorful scarfs to change things up, so I love the idea a finding a beautiful print and just making a scarf with it.

Ah thanks Karen, I’ve had to slow down a bit and still haven’t finished the dress 🫣. The bag was pretty straightforward especially since I’ve never made one before. I think it took longer to quilt than to construct. The sewalong on KZbin was a lifesaver!! Good luck!! 🏃‍♀️ 😮‍💨 😂🥰

Thanks Sarah. Looks like an absolutely fascinating exhibition. That dress is gorgeous, it’s never crossed my mind to use cuffing with a woven fabric. Great idea. Really interested to hear more about that if possible. How do you work out how much to use for example, and do you do any gathering or just stretch the cuffing as you add it? Thanks again. 😊
@sewsarahstyle
@sewsarahstyle 5 күн бұрын
Ah it was such a lovely day out. Yes I’ve used ribbing a few times with woven. To be honest, as with many things I make, there’s no real science to it, I use the cuff piece from any stretch top, ie Southbank sweater, or a cardigan pattern, then just gather the sleeve into it, if there’s too much sleeve, I sometimes narrow it slightly or baste and gather it to fit the cuff! Hope that helps ❤️

Thank you Sarah for a fantastic vlog. The exhibition was stunning. Can’t wait to see the dress on you. I have a question about your cable knit fabric top. I remember you making it and it looks great but does the fabric pill? I have a sweater I made in a similar fabric last year which I really like but can only wear it in the house now because of the pilling. Maybe your fabric is a better quality than mine. Where did you get it from please? ❤
@sewsarahstyle
@sewsarahstyle 5 күн бұрын
Ah thank you!! The cable knit is from Poind fabrics and to be honest I haven’t really had a problem with pilling. I did make a top which I was wearing today funnily enough out of a muted pink cable knit from pound fabrics which I’ve worn loads and has slightly pilled, but it’s not too bad. Where was yours from? Sorry to hear yours hasn’t been good!!
