IMO aux ships work as better carriers... since they can print missiles from cargo materials. Just keep them a touch further back from the front line. Also, launch tubes on the Honshu means it can launch fighters faster than the Tokyo... it just carries 10 less.

Then get a fleet with three easy steps... 1) go to faulty logic and get free destroyer and sell it 2) for that money, buy shiyaku freighter in argon prime, fill it entirely with marines, NO GUNS OR TURRETS 3) board argon nomad in that same sector without rep loss, don't kill fighter escort - they will calm down eventually voila, you now has a boarding aux ship to capture any other ships and repair them to assemble your fleet :P

I have a 75 Katana fleet garding savage spur II to Getsu Fune gate, and 2 Asgard, 1 Tokyo, 4 Sys and and a Terran auxiliary (always forget what it's called) along with 80 Katanas and 40 kalis guarding Savage Spur I highway. Hmm, something is not quite right here. Pong for home use started in the 1970s. If you were a bit late and waited for the Atari 2600 that would be the very early 80s. That would make it 40 years or more. 32 years ago, you would be playing something like Mario Kart, Super Star Wars, Sonic the hedgehog, Dune 2, Ultima Underworld etc. Even if you were playing Pong 32 years ago, it was not the ‘days of PONG’ (they had long passed by then).

note: unless you tell the Aux's Traders to "Dock and Wait", they will float idle haphazardly around the sector looking for trades, and they're range limited just like a station so they won't find anything if you're in enemy territory and just get picked off. I've found that the Traders will go dormant if you use the "Fly and Wait" command to park the Aux in a high trade system, so if you want to go on "shopping trips", you have to remove the Aux from your Carrier's fleet and create a separate fleet headed by any other ship. I keep a Frigate in my fleets dedicated to this, just remove them both and assign the Aux to "Supply Fleet" on the Frigate to create a new fleet, then send the Frigate to the trading systems and let the Aux do its thing when it arrives.

Thank you. I don't think I've ever actually used one of these. I will be after this though. My initial and limited impression was they were used to resupply ammo and deployable's (which I found confusing). But, I did not know about the repair and re-crew features. Those details make this ship class so much more desirable.

Great video. All of my combat fleets have an auxiliary ship. for combat offensives, its great to repair any incidental damage sustained by a cap ship fleet during battle. also makes sure all turrets/modules are at full health so you don't have to wait for service crew to repair. As mentioned, great for repairing boarded ships and/or abandoned ships. One thing that I didn't see mentioned that is an option is to set the auxiliary ship to 'supply fleet' which can be done when assigning it to a fleet. This will allow all ships in the fleet to automatically repair when needed. or set it to a station defending hostile space and all ships defending said station will automatically repair after battles. The supply fleet option isn't good though if you need to move fast, aka trying to take down an enemy wharf/shipyard to stop new ships being built. as the auxiliary ship can fall behind while it is repairing the fleets capitals. You can also set it to auto resupply a sector as a default behavior, I do this in my owned systems so ships that take damage defending my space can auto resupply/repair with little intervention. This does require the setup of the global resupply on ships you want to do that, but handy to keep your space running autonomously.

I do 3 other things with my fleet supply vessels. I have a 3x wing of scouts w/ 5x sats & 40x laser towers that expand my recon range and set a defense line around my op area. I also have a 20x wing of light fighters that fly CAP - so when taking a sector, for instance, the scouts drop LTs around the new defense station, the supply ship is set to protect it and the fleet protects area, instead of station. This keeps the supply ship out of the front lines but provides security in the rear of the fleet. One of my "Supply" traders is a drone carrier (Cerberus usually) that specifically carries replacement repair drones for my carriers & destroyers

Oh God I'm having flashbacks tp my first playthru. Had w carriers and 500 fighter. Would just show up and wreck shit. Oh God the after action repairs were a fuckig nightmare to get thru. Then I "discovered" a free honshu just sitting un attended in Terran space. Wondering what the fuck it was I goigled why Terra has 2 carriers. Went from being a terror to shipping lanes once every three months to damn near round the clock strangle hold on trade thru a highway system. 500 fighters and 3 carriers supported by auxilerys can do some fucking damage. Noth8ng got thru till I decided to stop ot i lost enough fighters to warrant a tactical retreat. For some reason there just wasn't alot of destroyers in the game for that universe. Well let me tell you that fucking changed real quick when no one could ship anything into or out of that system.

Good video. I also like using auxiliary ships for heavy Marine carriers/capture ships, especially against pirate destroyers. I'll load the auxiliary ship with 100 or so marines and four or so heavier fighters (Ares, Eclipse, or the like). If a pirate destroyer threatens one of my trade ships, I'll run it down in a Nemesis corvette while at the same time ordering the auxiliary ship to the same sector. While the auxiliary ship flies there, I'll catch the destroyer, disable the engines and heavy turrets of the pirate destroyer, then hang back. Once the auxiliary ship arrives, as part of the board action, the auxiliary will set its fighters to clear off the other surface elements of the destroyer, take out any escorts or deployables, take down the shields, and lower the hull to the right value without me having to do a thing. After the capture, the auxiliary is right there to transfer service crew, pull the marines back, and do the initial repairs.

I have found boarding extremelly easy but maybe is because of the early Moreya you are given following the Feynmann missions. That ship kills subsystems in a blink and with just a freighter with 30 marines i can capture any SCA destroyer. Also lots of minotaur raiders hace fallen to the Moreya

Something that i used to do is transfer marines from other ships to the ship i using to board other ships, you can do that with a Corvette, you just need to repeat the boarding operation several times until all resistance is dealt.

A Zeus is a much better automated pirate ship for this purpose - it can carry enough ships (18 fighters) for the job and it's *much* faster than any auxiliary. The only downside in this case is that you can't use it to do the after capture repairs. What you can do, is chain captures with a Zeus/4 Falx frigates/your choice & combo of pirate ships, park the auxiliary near your favourite NPC shipyard, then fly your captured pirate destroyers to the aux to get them repaired just before sale. The captures will be much faster, but the turnaround will be slightly slower. That's okay btw, because there's often so many destroyers on the map that you can struggle to capture them all! The limiting factor is how many captures you can make, not how quickly you sell them after capture.
@Talinoth
@Talinoth Жыл бұрын
@@efxnews4776 You can step that up and do one better. Falx frigates (M class) are fast for their 24 crew cap - my favourite setup for them is 1 pilot, 1 crew, 22 marines. 2 Falxes to capture a destroyer, 4 of them when you want to power-train marines by capturing freighters. It's quite easy to use multiple ships in a boarding op. Assign the subordinates to Attack role for a squad leader, then *just* select the squad leader's ship and order them to board the target. Now, in the Boarding menu, settings you change (how many marines are used, what the ships do during the boarding, etc) affect all of the ships in that squad, not just the leader! Multiple ships coordinate very well when it comes to blasting subcomponents off a target. I've even considered adding Blast Mortar Moreya escorts to my 4 Falx boarding squads to more efficiently blow up subcomponents without even having to do anything myself. I might test that later.

@@Talinoth you didn't get the idea... My tactic is minimal force for maximum efficiency. It takes a long time to capture a ship like this, but if you are careful, you can do it with a single corvette. But if you really want to play the game of, brute force, then the best way to go is use only a single syn. The only ships i know for sure that can't be pirated with a syn are the xenon ships, all the rest are easy prey for a syn. I don't waste s and m ships for most types of confrontations, jus for patrol and station defense.

I haven't had an issue with paying for repairs. That usually beats engaging an enemy with an already damaged ship or having to travel a crazy distance to one of my own maintenance docks. But I do see their appeal in repairing locally in a long, far off campaign. It also makes sense to have a few of them around to carry large amounts of supplies on campaigns as well. I don't mind that their carrying capacity is close to that of large freighters despite being much larger, presumably since they also need to carry their repair and reload equipment in a way. It also forces you to secure your supply lines all the way to the auxiliary ships and have enough freighters on hand. We have all recently learned how important a good and large logistics system really is.

the problem with these ships is they don't carry anywhere near enough supplies to perform their function. and after each battle you'll need to sell everything it's carrying, and then tell it to go get supplies. if you don't sell first it ends up with a whole bunch of stuff it never uses and not enough of the stuff it does need. after a couple battles it can't rearm or repair anyone because it doesn't have the supplies needed, because it's filled with all the stuff it never uses. so having the support ship doesn't really help, you end up having to send the fleet back to resupply/repair/rearm anyway. in theory it's a cool idea, in practice in the game it just doesn't seem to work, just adds another ship for the enemy to go after (and boy do they) having multiple supply ships per fleet doesn't solve the problem either. my initial thought was while sending one back to sell/resupply supplies, the other one would be available to assist the fleet, but none of the ships of the fleet will use the other supply ship. you have to manually remove the old supply ship from the fleet and send it back and then manually assign the new supply ship to the fleet, leave the sector, come back to the sector, and do that after each large battle. easier to just not use missiles/torpedoes and send ships back to a station for repairs as needed. In order for them to actually do what they are supposed todo, supply ships would have to carry 20 times what they do AND ships would have to repair/rearm several times faster than they do AND support ships would have to resupply themselves according to what they actually are using AND fighting ships would need to carry several times more missiles/torpedoes than they do AND missiles/torpedoes would have to travel several times faster AND .... you get the idea. neat idea generally, but as implemented it's big ole fat NOPE

Early'sh the aux ship is somewhat useful. Later in the game, paying for repairs isn't a problem and makes the aux ship more of a logistics hassle. I tend to circumvent them by simply planning around their use as money becomes absolutely irrelevant. I've been playing long enough I tend to plan for damage to some ships my fleet numbers reflect this making in the field repairs for those that do rather pointless as well. If you expect roughly 10-12 ships taking hits, you estimate 30 ships to do the deed I'll just send 50 and just rotate the damaged back home for repairs at my own wharfs.

Set faction relation fot that faction to very negative. Thrn start taking ships from them till either you have become there new king or have finally been killed. Also set one other faction taht routinely goes to war with that faction at 15. Implying they funded the heist on the condition any military ships you steal gets sold to them. My fleets guarding xenon gates last virtually indefinitely when having auxiliary ships assigned to them. I've also noticed that if you assign an auxiliary ship to a station it will automatically repair all ships assigned to that station that gets damaged on return back to said station. I see that changing buy orders it's still not possible. That sucks when you want a squadron with torpedo/missile launchers

I was thinking about buying an Aux for trading since they seem like the only XL ships in the game we can use for trading.. I gather from this video, that's not possible? Are trade ships stuck to L class only then? Kinda a bummer if that's the case. I wanted something that has a ton of cargo but more hull/shields/weaponry than L class ships. Hopefully there's some way to get XL traders in this game if we can't use Aux.. Would be a bummer! :D

You can play all campaigns / plots with every gamestart. However IMO the terran plots are much better than the other ones. On the other hand the tides of averice gamestart "stranded" is very useful for new players because you learn all methods of being a pirate. You can simultanously follow the other plots of course. So you would never "miss" anything :)

I dislike how we cannot assign the amount of storage for each trade ware the axillary ships hold. I have an axillary sheep in each of my fleets and their main use is to restock the fighters with missiles and torpedoes. However there isn't enough storage space assigned to missile components to fully restock 10% of the my fighters, making it a very frustrating time to send them else ware.

The auto-repairing is handy but I've personally found the rest of it is pretty useless. Destroyers assigned to defend the aux ship don't seem to go for repairs when they are damaged, only ships that are part of the main fleet do which is disappointing. Assigning a trade ship to trade for the aux ship is dangerous for the trade ship. Once the trade ship completes their job, and no other trades are found they will sit in the sector looking for more work. Guess what happens to it in a hostile sector? It really needs to dock with the aux ship on its own and wait for a new job so that it's at least protected until more work is found. I kind of wish trade ships with no work did the same thing with stations come to think of it.
@kajarslibrary5404
@kajarslibrary5404 2 жыл бұрын
Doesn't matter if your ship is assigned or not. Any S and M ship will automatically go to repair at a carrier / aux if one is in a sector. Doesn't matter if its independent, assigned to fleet or assigned to station. My station miners that got damaged by khaak regularly run after my Raptor when i move through their sector, trying to get repairs. Dunno about larger ships but they usually aren't numerous enough that giving repair orders forms a problem and having repairs on hand at the front lines is crazy powerful. Repairs is literally the only thing i use AUX ships for.
@Rakshasa84
@Rakshasa84 2 жыл бұрын
I'm definitely going to try and observe that behaviour but that is a neat tip! I usually try to blacklist Khaak invested sectors though because of how the "Patrol" order doesn't have ships respond to threats. I just end up losing any M miners or traders in those zones because I don't know how to protect them. An aux is expensive but might be worth having it just sit in a mining sector with a small wing of fighters.
@kajarslibrary5404
@kajarslibrary5404 2 жыл бұрын
Khaak are no problem, simply take out their hive stations and then they will stop bothering you. Takes up to 96 hours for a hive to respawn. Make sure to remove the smaller raiding outpost as well, those spawn the attacks on your miners. Hives spawn the raid outposts within 3 jumps of them.
@Rakshasa84
@Rakshasa84 2 жыл бұрын
I wasn't totally aware of that relationship. Outposts do the spawning, hives spawn the outposts. Neat. Still though, it takes a little bit of time to find them so in the mean time they are hurting the M ships. It's cool to know I could send an Aux ship to keep them healed and give them a place to flee to.

In my opinion carriers should already serve same purpose of supply ships as that's their purpose, to carry and maintain smaller ships, they should allow to give traders to carriers and instead of adding supply ships they should give us more destroyers as there's only two in the game (Asgard and Elrking)

@@baneblackguard584 Sadly, it happens so often that it's usually better for me to just not put the Aux ship in a fleet with other ships. @nexnexnex8261

Patrol circulates around the center of the sector. The effective range of the ship's radar is 40 km. Only enemy ships and installations (depending on the settings) that come into the radar range and can be caught up will be attacked. If, for example, you are patrolling with destroyers, it is worth assigning wingers to them in the intercept mode. Interceptors (durable, with accurate long-range weapons). The Kalis fighter is a good example. A docked 1-2 is enough for each destroyer. They will stop the enemy until he comes within range of the destroyer's weapon. If you know that there are a lot of enemies in a certain place, order instead of patroling the sector - to guard this place, e.g. around the entrance gate to the system. Then the fleet will fight all the time and not wander into the void of space. Remember to assign the AUX ship to the destroyer fleet commander in fleet supply mode so that the fleet can automatically repair itself after each fight :)

@@VicRaptor2589 If the problem of passivity towards Xenon applied to the whole game, then probably by setting your aggression preferences, you set the Xenons peacefully. Then even direct attacks are ignored. You could also activate such AI only on the commander of this particular fleet. It happens. I gave permission to useful allies only for a military counterattack. I ignore civilian objects, even when they are aggressive. Such settings help in the event of unwanted npc clashes and prevent too much loss of standings.

@@VicRaptor2589 The setting run after attack and run away from pirates is my default, because I have a lot of civilian stacks that do not fight, because they will lose. However, when I build a navy, I pause the game and change the default game settings for a moment to "attack", then on each war stack in the fleet I deselect the settings field so that the "attack option is activated individually permanently. Then I go back to the game settings and restore the general settings. preference for "escape." I am canceling the pause. The military fleet is aggressive, and the civilian fleet is relatively safe. Sometimes I also set options for military interceptors to run away, because they are not supposed to fight until death, but to catch up, attack, stop, and leave the killing force in case of problems to larger ships.
