America’s Got Talent Season 18 qualifiers are ending as this week as the final 11 acts performed on Tuesday for a spot in next week’s finale. This week had a few acts that were impressive in the auditions but took it up another notch for the qualifiers. One of those acts was Japanese dance group Avantgardey.
Before proceeding the video just spares few seconds to like, share, comment on the video and subscribe to the FMTP TV channel.
They said they came to AGT because they want the world to know who they are. Prior to the performance, the group worries about connecting to the American audience as they perform to a Japanese song. The girls currently have day jobs, but they want to be able to perform full-time. Winning AGT could be a start, as well as a way to star in the AGT show in Vegas.
The dance crew performs using the same beloved quirky style they brought in the audition, but this time they amp up the scary vibes, taking the act a bit more down a horror route without going too far with it. It is a very fast paced act with a lot of movement across the stage. I personally think they stepped it up from their impressive audition. The dancing is so unique that I believe there is a market for their type of act. I don’t think I’ve seen an act that moves the way they do. I could totally imagine an Avantgardey fronted Vegas show.
Heidi Klum says they are one of her favorite dance crews and notes “you set yourself apart from all the other dancers because of the unique look you have and unique movements you make.” Sofia Vergara calls it so “weird and scary” that she “loves it.” Simon Cowell calls the act “so different” and notes how dance groups have gotten better this year after a lackluster few years of dance on the show. Howie Mandel calls them his “favorite in the dance acts.” He endorses them to become one of the two voted through.
Avantgardey deserves a spot in the finals. Will they get one? We are not super sure about that. The Ramadhani Brothers will soar through after turning in the best balancing act of the season. Sofia’s golden buzzer, Gabriel Henrique could be contending for a spot as he is very talented, and his whistle notes are impressive. This final week of qualifier acts was very strong, and even acts like the 82nd Airborne Division Chorus and Lachune, while not super flashy, turned in very solid performances.
Who Are Avantgardey?
Hailing from Osaka, Japan, the all-girl dance group called Avantegardey came all the way to the America's Got Talent stage to perform a jaw dropping routine. And after their applaudable performance, it's safe to say that their travels paid off.
"We have an original dance piece filled with Japanese soul," one of the group members stated when asked what makes Avantgardey stand out from other dance troupes America's Got Talent has seen before.
After taking the stage, the group started out their routine to an upbeat instrumental song while all wearing matching black and white dresses. During the number, the group performed intricate choreography, moving their feet and bobbing their heads together to the rhythm in perfect harmony.
When the song was over, Avantagrdey struck a confident pose and received a much-deserved standing ovation from Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Heidi Klum.
Avantgardey appeared on the 2nd audition session of America’s Got Talent, 2023. Formed in 2022 in Osaka, Japan, Avantgardey has gained a reputation on social media as, in the words of Japanese site Akanekikaku, the “mysterious school-uniformed & bobbed-hair group”.
After the performance, Heidi Klum says, “I really think I saw your Japanese soul.” While clearly complementary, this sounds a trifle tone-deaf in these times of heightened cultural sensitivity. Again there is a simple answer. The AGT video does not show the preliminary comments before the performance. When asked what distinguishes Avantgardey from previous dance acts on AGT, a group member says: “We have an original dance piece filled with Japanese soul.” Here’s a little more of that soul:

Avantgardey, in my opinion, have a large and solid network regardless of the result of the competition; they have about a million followers on social media, and this popularity started even before they competed on AGT. When avantgardey was still in its early years, Akane, its producer and choreographer, had a lot of work for them. Creating spoof videos, competing in other events, and working on commercials and advertisements in Japan. Lastly, the most well-liked one founded the Tomioka Dance Club.

They did make the top 5, but not the top 3.. Anyway, I am so happy the they were chosen as the wildcard. Now at least I have 2 of my top 3 acts of AGT 2023 in the finals, Those acts being 1) Murmuration and 3 )Avantgarney/ Only 2) Warrior Squad, failed to make it to the finals. Copyright laws cost Avangardey the win at AGT. While clearly the best act and a judge and fan favorite, their acts are legally covers of the songs the use. Song composers have all rights to any performance of their songs. So any view of their first performance is credited to the songwriter who more than 15 years ago wrote ‘Cinderella Holiday.’ If Avantgardey won the milion dollar prize, the songwriter could claim the money. It’s the reason why songwriters get rich and a tough situation for a singer, dance group, or dancer. Hopefully the AGT exposure will benefit Avantgardey.

What came out of the video was, a comment from Simon, was , do you sing, which shows where he is at, Simon is only interested in singers, where he can milk money from them. The others , don’t know a thing about modern day Japanese culture. But they have achieved what they set out to do and got coverage on the American version of Got Talent on the back of winning in the Japanese version They will keep going , whilst the others will fade away in the distance. AGT dance routines have historically been the type that is more acrobatic and daring, and while they did some great stunts they have been very sloppy dancers. It is good to see legitimately great synchronized dance and originality.

I Think only one act, maybe 2 of the top 11 acts in the finally were actually American. We had Japan, South Korea, 2 or 3 different countries in Africa, France, Canada, India, Middle East, and all though I agree that the show is called America's got Talent so why is none of the talent from America. I will also say that as an American it makes me happy to see people from all over the world still feel that the American dream is alive and I am glad to see them go after it. This country is and always has been a beacon for anyone seeking freedom and a chance to live their dream. We are a melting pot of all who live in this world and pursue the dream of freedom, because of us the world is a better place and without them we would not exist.

Avantagardey received votes to remove Gabriel. Indonesia was dishonest to pave the way for Putri to win the program. Even with 200 million of people , Brazil cannot vote and even using a VPN it was not accepted, unlike all of Asia and Indonesia. What was done to Gabriel Henrique is a worldwide shame
