1. Sokkas throwback disguises are phenomenal. The writer obviously did her research 2. Toph explaining why Aang couldn't metalbend. It also helps us realize how Korra got it so easily 3. Toph still seeming to have a crush on Sokka. She goes right to her man as soon as Suki arrives 4. Aang looks so frigging adorable in his disguise. Love the high collar 5. It's very easy to read these with the original voice actors voices. 👏👏 6. Toph's signature pointing stance used multiple times. I feel very respected as a fan 7. Suki chi-blocking is a nice touch and makes her a much more powerful ally 8. All the characters are very well personified and have the same attitudes as their animated versions. Well done indeed 9. The music choice and animation was very well done in this video. It was the perfect speed to read and I only had to pause when I wanted a closer look at the artwork.

I agree with 1. 2 makes sense to me. Aang's not too good of an Earthbender to begin with. And since Metalbending requires reflection on heavy shit in one's life.....yeah Aang's not good with that either. Korra's obligatory suck element was Airbending, plus as we saw when she went to Zaofu the first time, she took very well to Metalbending (hell, she could even Earthbend easily at 4), just as Aang took well to Waterbending. I think Toph has feelings for both Sokka AND Satoru. Her love stuff's complicated. And that's before wondering when Kanto gets in all of this. I like Aang's disguise. He looks like Spike from Cowboy Beebop and Wan. I do 5 too. I like 6. Suki's badass with chiblocking. It's a blessing she and Ty Lee made amends :). Agree with 8, everyone's on point with how they are. But remember, the creators are involved with the comics too. I agree with 9. Zacky's talented.

Who would have thought that an anti-non-bending revolution would have preceded Amon's anti-bending revolution in the same city?
@kagemaru3975 жыл бұрын
I could have. It's like Sokka said, there's been tension between benders and nonbenders for a LONG time. Probably since right after Wan beat Vaatu. On that note, I wish Season 1 of Korra would have been done like this. This is a MUCH better story on the conflict between benders and nonbenders. Either that, or have Amon be a part of the Red Lotus and the one tasked with liberating Republic City. He could also be a de facto leader since at the time Zaheer and his crew were still in jail. (It's an idea of an AU I developed when wondering what happened between Amon running away from the Northern Water Tribe and coming to Republic City. Another problem with Season 1 even though they only had so much room to work with admittedly is that we don't get a bridge between teenage Amon and adult Amon. Like what was it that caused him to sour on bending? I doubt it was just bloodbending and Yakone's other abusive practices. Something else or other things caused him to be the way he is as an adult.)
@15jewjew5 жыл бұрын
Well the point of this comic is to tie in with Korra. I also love how in Korra had the conflict be more about the non - bender, and this one is more centered on benders. The end has put aang in a difficult situation. Now he has to decide between letting someone keep their talent and abilities or taking them away forever. I’m guessing that he’s going to say that the firelord was way more dangerous and evil and that she doesn’t completely deserve to have her bending taken away. He’s probably also gonna say that he can’t just go taking away peoples bending abilities. The problem is that if he takes away her bending for being a revolutionary then he will have to take away the peoples bending who aren’t scared to put an end to non benders. Taking away someone’s bending is a powerful ability and I feel like aang wants to use it for extreme measures. So I vote that he shouldn’t take her bending.
@mortiestrick8055 жыл бұрын
Yes but at age 12-13 he had only taken ozais bending. So that’s why I think he’s very hesitant in deciding whether he should take someone else’s bending who poses a lesser threat. But yeah that could be a theory for why adult aang took yakones bending so openly.
@kagemaru3975 жыл бұрын
The thing with Yakone is that he had a version of Waterbending that was around as dangerous as Firebending and a HUGE will to use it. Maybe it's something that happens in Part 3 that made it easier for him to Energybend Yakone 26 years later. Or my guess is that Yaling is just a run of the mill Earthbender who's most dangerous assets are her oratory skills and her message. Compared to the considerably less compelling but physically more threatening Ozai and Yakone, it's more of a coin toss on whether or not Engergybending her is a necessity. It's like Sokka was getting at: the biggest enemy here isn't a person or group, but an idea. You can incapacitate Yaling and her group, put them in jail, or even kill them. But as long as there's ONE person who believes, the idea doesn't lose no matter how badly the people behind it do. So yeah, (pretending for a minute we haven't already seen SO much into the future) there's no guarantee that this problem ends here.
@MeesdeFilmliefhebber5 жыл бұрын
The problem is also that a lot of people's lives depend solely on bending: their income and livelihood is provide by the work they do with their ability. Taking that away from them as punishment will have horrible consequences that will stretch a lot further than merely exacting justice for a crime. And even if a different solution will eventually calm everything down, abuse of bending-power will rise again with Yakone until Amon emerges to represent the extremist non-benders. It is a difficult and intriguing problem.
@syrusangi87435 жыл бұрын
@@kagemaru397 I agree. Liling will be punished for her crimes but she's not in the same level of evil as Ozai and Yokane. Michelangelo 2003 I agree, if Aang took Liling’s bending away now she would just become a false Martyr & cause further uprising with her supporters
@maladjustedmaverick66195 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I think this might be my favorite Avatar comic yet. The new art style is growing on me, everyone seems in character, and the creators' attention to detail shows in the the return of Sokka's beard and hat, Momo fighting with Liling's cat in a panel that could have been another redundant shot of Aang and Liling talking, and Liling's earthbending style being pretty distinctive despite only being shown for a few panels. I love having the Gaang all together again, everyone with their own small role to play. The bender vs. nonbender conflict is a fascinating subject to explore, and so far this comic has done an even better job than the Legend of Korra in this regard. Each side has representatives with valid points, and we see this conflict both at the macro level through the secret movement and violence in the city, and at the micro level through Yaling and Ru's relationship as sisters and their relationship to their mother. I also loved seeing Toph as a master manipulator! My only criticisms would be that Toph earning Yaling's trust seemed a bit too easy and convenient, and that Liling's speech going so far as to declare that benders are inherently superior to nonbenders seems a little cartoonish and over the top, and kinda sets her up as a strawman. However, she could be saying these extreme things simply because she thinks they're what will motivate the angry, downtrodden bender population, and I will allow that she has a point. No matter how you look at it, only heavily trained and exceptionally talented nonbenders (the likes of Suki, Mai, and Ty Lee) will ever be able to fight the average bender on a level playing field. The average nonbender doesn't stand a chance against a bender. Also, Satoru's first equipment designs that didn't require nonbenders weren't as efficient as the bending-powered assembly lines, and this may not have fully changed. The impetus behind developing equipment that didn't rely on bending in The Rift was that it was more cost effective since benders have to undergo years of training to be able to handle factory work. Overall, I'm excited to see where part 3 of The Imbalance goes. I hope Aang decides not to remove Liling's bending, because that would make her a martyr, destroy the benders' trust in the Avatar, rile up tensions even further, and do nothing about the source of the conflict. Not only that, I also believe energybending is a skill that should only be used in the most extreme of situations and that using it on a fairly minor threat relative to the likes of Ozai could open a whole new can of worms about where exactly to draw the line. Ozai's bending was removed because it was a threat to the rest of the world in and of itself- it was an enabler of Ozai's tyranny. Liling's threat lies not so much in her bending as in her dogma, and unlike Ozai, she is not the root of the problem, merely a symptom of it. However, it's a tricky situation, and right now I'm not even sure how I would resolve it. Perhaps the solution will have something to do with the bending police force mentioned in part 1. I'm also intrigued as to where Ru's character goes from here. Somehow, I think her mother and sister are going to regret dismissing her for being a nonbender. I'd also like to see her bond with Sokka and Suki due to their shared struggles as nonbenders. Whew, that was longer than I expected it to be. 😅

Although they did touch on whether she was mothering the group in the show (as well as the "Aang, I'm confused," thing they tacked on at the end with Zuko), she obviously cares for him deeply and feels that he needs her support as he tries being the Avatar in a totally new world. It is clear that the Avatar world is suffering very similar issues to the Industrial Revolution. The Avatar is going through an Industrial Level in another level after the Hundred Year War. For example: in many ways, the benders are equivalent to the highly skilled craftsmen who started losing their jobs to the machines in XIX century. Cranefish Town as a whole is the symbol of all the problems in Industrial Revolution, like too many people crowded into the same cities trying to find a job. The result is a chaotic urban growing, much violence and poverty, the pains of progress. Imbalance Part One makes all these associations with the Industrial Revolution very clear, like when Sokka and Aang traveled to the Business Council, like Katara and Toph's whole conversation with Satoru in Earthen Fire Industries, but specially Aang and Katara's whole intimate dialogue, which is also my favorite part of Imbalance Part Two. And I can't help but think about Hitler's ideas about german supremacy seeing Liling's speech in Part Two. There are so many similarities with the real historical context. I also think that ATLA did not adress much the bender/non bender issue because, in the bigger picture of the Hundred Year and fighting against the Fire Lord, the bender/non bender issue was not that relevant in people's lifes and would disperse too much the focus of the show. Also, it is after ATLA that we see, and it has been shown and explained already in The Rift, that the Avatar world is going through a Industrial Revolution. The rest of the story is my first paragraph here. North And South also has some hints at the bender/non bender issue when Maliq talks about machines making non-benders equal to benders. I really recommend a re-reading of North And South Part 2 and the whole The Rift trilogy, specially Part 1, to get an even richer context to Imbalance overall.

Toph's a good con artist. She knew JUST how to work Yaling. I could see Aang not being good with Metalbending either. First of all, he sucks at Earthbending since his personality's aligned against it, second, Metalbending requires the user tap into their most painful memory or something like this.....and we all know how Aang gets with these things. So yeah, Toph was telling the truth about this. Liling's a straight up whackjob. Suki can chiblock now? Kick ass. Someone's been spending time with a certain Ozai's angel. Aang's agonizing over Energybending someone.....oh the irony. It was the "other way" he so desperately wanted 2 years ago, and now he has trouble with this. Wonder what'll happen with the twins. This is still a better example of the bender/nonbender conflict than Season 1 of Korra. The latter depends too much on the viewer assuming there's a problem. I liked seeing Toph cheer up Satoru. She was a bit more caring in how she talked to him.

at first i didn't like the new art format of the imbalance comic but my heart is actually full that they use so much from the actual series like Aang's airbending trick or Sokka's disguises...and there is so much useful information I always asked myself for example why Aang can't metalbend. AMAZING, i'm happy...

@avatarmomo10324 жыл бұрын
Cause she kinda roasted the girl, and was being kinda harsh. Aang and Katara were just looking at each other with the thought of “Classic Toph!”

I wish they will have a comic too that Azula changed for a better person a kind one and to know her back/sob stories like she will confess that she is hurt that her father just used her , her friends betrayed her, her mother didn't cared for her( her mother actually cared for her but not as much she cared for Zuko) like her mother cared for zuko that no one trust her, that no one actually cared or love her Azula's life is really a tragic and rough and actually she is my fav character in ATLA that's it (only my opinion sorry if there are wrong grammars)

13:04 the fact that Aang and Katara make these faces when Toph says let's go home is 100% intentional, Avatar got a lot of hidden suggestive references, the drill episode Katara's bedroom eyes in the headband, The beach episode especially Aang and Katara's hug after he had finished fighting combustion man, Aang's hand placement may have been an animation mistake but katara's smirk is not, in the boiling rock episode zuko tells the guards not to worry about mai and that she doesn't need protection, and ofc the infamous tent scene, when the next day sokka crafts a lai, which means he got laid last night

Aang and friends go to an all bender rally in disguises. In that rally, benders claim to want to have all rights above those without bending and a fight breaks out between them and Toph. Fast forward about 60 years later, Korra and Mako go to an all non-bender rally in disguises. The non-benders want to have all rights above benders, along with the non-existence of bending, and the leader ends up fighting Bolin.
