It’s quite logical most people think that the first season is the lesser one. That season needed to take its time to introduce most of the characters and the world. Basically in the first season you slowly grow attached to the show and everything in it. By season two you are much more invested and by the end you’re completely enthralled by it (at least I was).

Fun fact: Did you know that Zuko and Mai had, almost definitely, had sex in this episode? It's not confirmed but just think about it; Mai's parents are still in Omashu so they have the whole house for themselves. They even sent away the servants and Zuko clearly spent the night there since they were talking at night when Mai tried to cheer him up and the next scene was them still in her room in the morning. Not to mention he had messy hair. I mean, they're teenagers, alone in a house, of course they would use this opportunity to mess around. I also like how Mai and Zuko were acting in this episode. You can just see how relaxed they are around each other, Mai is smiling more than any other episode here and Zuko looks so content until the war meeting is brought up which is when Mai instantly tries to comfort and/or distract him. Once it's revealed that he is, in fact, wanted there, she's so supportive and happy for him. Zuko even confines in Mai that he doesn't feel like himself. Overall, I liked this episode mainly because of these two. Thank you for reading

Also, they said before that they don't particularly ship _either one_ - I believe in the Crossroads of Destiny, they admitted they felt Aang was _visibly_ too much younger than her (and I'll also argue that animating a growth spurt for Aang starting in Book 2 would have been honestly helpful), but that Kataang still had a healthier dynamic than Zutara. They seemed to enjoy the idea of that plot twist up until he betrayed her, and then they just scrapped hope for it after that, and at this point they would be happy with whoever she ultimately chooses in the end (though they predicted Kataang). Either way, it must be real exhausting finding fault with everyone who enjoys non-canon ships. There's much more to life than obsessive shipping. Please grow up.

Bloodbending isn't always an option. Full-moon only. I'm sure this isn't a new comment, and you're probably a good number ahead in real-time...but, it honestly bears repeating. It's the most forgotten rule about the technique the first time through.

there is no material stating she has that capability. I mean....it's cool head canon. I'd believe it if something came out saying she could....but nothing currently exists that has said she can. It's the kind of thing that isn't really necessary....they went out of their way to show how powerful Katara is.....but it's important not to see these characters as one-time legend gods....remember...they're benders among billions in a world with a long history. More powerful benders have come and gone, and these kids discover some new techniques and prove themselves at a VERY young age. They also go out of their way to show that these kids are NOT all-powerful....that even bending is not all-powerful...it can be strengthened, but also weakened. They came up with the full moon rule for a reason. Especially when watching ATLA...it's important to realize certain Korra ideas don't exist yet. When they do bend the rules on Bloodbending, it's with a freak mutation like Yakone....who can even use it psychically, without bending motions to a degree that's almost absurd! I think the fact that Katara supported Bloodbending's illegality later on tells you....she despised the technique so much, she didn't even bother attempting it much more throughout her life. Why would she even attempt it unless someone had a knife to her throat? Or someone threatened her children?

nobody is allowed to trash talk this episode. only the great divide is of slightly lesser quality than the rest of the show, this is another 10/10 hilarious character based episode that people not familiar with anime or other animated tv usually hate on because of its wackiness and over the top humor. I love it. another great reaction cant wait to see what you guys think of the upcoming episodes!

I used to really not like this episode much when I was younger, but there's a surprising amount of depth here. The parts with Aang in this episode are really important to his journey, but I think the parts with Zuko get really overlooked. They're short, but they're hugely character-defining moments. Of course it's a lot more obvious in the next few episodes, but I think this episode is the moment where Zuko finally realizes what he needs to do. His line "I was the perfect prince, the son my father wanted, but I wasn't me" is incredible characterization.

Fr I started watching The Dragon Prince cause that's the closest show to Avatar. In the show Sokka's voice actor is the main character and they make an Avatar reference - one of the writers was from Avatar I think his name was Aaron Ehzas

well Azula being invited instead of Zuko makes a lot of sense. Azula's a girl. Even though she's outstandingly competent in war and combat, that wouldn't be the norm so she would be invited. Zuko should definitely be there since he's the heir to the throne, so it was definitely assumed he would be there even without an invitation.
