If you were interested in what happened to Zuko’s mother there is a graphic novel at Barnes & Noble called “The Search” which tells the story. It’s is amazingly well done. They also have other books that take place after the series and see the stage for the sequel series Korra

I’m sure it has been said, but in case you didn’t know; Korra was made with the crew not knowing if they would get a next season, so each season is pretty self contained, with a season starting a story and the story wrapping up by season’s end. Not necessarily bad, but different from the 3 season long story of ATLA.

Legend of korra is a fantastic sequel to the first series, it had to deal with a lot of issues from the studio effectively trying to kill the show because they didn't want boys and girls buying the same toys and the creators never knowing if they were going to get another season. Despite all of that it managed to be a fantastic show.

I hope you guys watch Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (FMAB) when you are done with Korra. For me, when it comes to characters, world building, and story, FMAB is tied with ATLA for favorite animated show ever. Plus, watching the two of you theorize where you think the story will go next would be really fun.
