Iroh is definitely best freaking character!!! My heart broke into a million pieces at the scene where he's singing at his son's grave 😭😭😭.

I wouldn’t be overly concerned about the original guys not being involved. It was always a collaborative effort. I think Dave Filoni’s involvement early on gets understated

And Aaron Ehasz wrote most of the best episodes and is responsible for Zuko's character arc.

@@NickDe3I think people (myself included) forget that there’s other writers on the original show. I always thought Mike and Bryan wrote literally the whole show by themselves, but it’s not the case. Other people have contributed an incredible amount of amazing storytelling other than Bryan and Mike

If i could choose i would like to either be a fire bender or an earth bender, maybe split the difference and be a lava bender lol

the original creators i also hope is not a bad sign. since they now got their own studio i think owned by paramount, so maybe there was something about that too them leaving

From what I understand they still collaborated at a distance to confirm lore and stuff but left the direct decision making process.

"They fit their culture too" true, im all for it, but I find it ironic that we make the exeption for other stuff that is suppose to be just white. Go tell that to Netflix doing Bridgerton and having multietnic cast or other shows lately.... lol

Looks good so far the only nitpick, i have is when it comes to this is I kind of would have liked it if they had Aang's arrow design look sort of similar to the last airbender's movie look. And before you say it yes i know that Aang's arrow is just a plain blue arrow in the show. But i just like the tribal monkish look to his arrow in the movie. But again its a nitpick other than that looks amazing so far.

I think they made a good compromise with having it more blue but also have the intricate designs to make it feel like something an actual culture would use as a ritualistic tattoo.

I'm a Waterbender, always my answer, it never changes. I wouldn't be mad to be born an Airbender though! I'm going to watch this but I'll be skeptical until the credits roll on the last episode. Since the announcement of Avatar Studio helmed by the original ATLA creators Mike and Bryan, I've been a little more forgiving toward the live action show.

My first ever experience with Avatar was unfortunately the movie. But it was so boring that I turned it off before I was 10 minutes in 😑 and because of that, I almost considered not even watching the cartoon. Thank God I gave the cartoon a chance, because it is so good! What the hell were they thinking with the with the movie? But this looks really good.

Well thy said that the original people left because Netflix want a teen show and they want a kids show, besides the so called OG creators, were only writers in the animated series not the creators of the characters
@starlepus9437 Жыл бұрын
the original creators were the writers. and we dont know the exact resaons why they left outside of "creative differences"
@yannsalmon2988 Жыл бұрын
« Creative differences » means they wanted a different approach. But that can as well be because they thought Netflix was not being faithful to the original material that because Netflix didn’t want to integrate new stuff the creators wanted for this version as to make it different from the animated series. Not all creators want faithful adaptations and can sometimes ask for drastic changes that would surprise the fans. You can never tell with creative people if they are of the gatekeeping or disruptive type with their own material.

@@yannsalmon2988 With Mike and Bryan's history with The Legend of Korra it seems to me they are the revisionist types. They changed a lot of things that strayed away from the original ideas. I also wouldn't be surprised if there were some things they wanted to keep that only worked in animation or the short episode format and didn't understand that it might not translate well. They have more experience with animation after all and they left to go do animation stuff on their own. So it very well could be that they didn't have the skills necessary for making the live action medium work. We see this being the case for some other creators like JK Rowling. She had a guiding hand in the Harry Potter films but not full control. as soon as she got full control with the Fatastic Beasts films it became clear that it wasn't necessarily her decisions that made the first series a hit in theaters. That could be what's happening here.
@yannsalmon2988 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, Legend of Korra was also the thing that made me think that the creators might not be satisfied with just staying on the tracks of what’s already been done. Personally, I liked this approach with Korra even if the result was not as epic as the last airbender. But I don’t blame the creative choices for it, because this expansion of the universe had nonetheless some interesting stuff in it.

I am praying that this series does turn out well, and I know it's just a teaser but it feels like it is hiding something and not in a good way. Maybe it's because of the awful movie that I'm this skeptic. They flashed the four elements with swelling music, but hardly any of the elements besides air and fire were shown; not a single shot of waterbending in "Book One : WATER". Everyone had a stern expression except for Aang in one shot. Those two combined kinda worry me about what's to come, but I will remain optimistic.

The reason the original people left is that supposedly this show will have at least a few love scenes. The creators said, "It's a kid show that shouldn't be there", No, it's not a kid's show. It's a teenager's show. That had some material you would find in a kid's show. But the themes and the plot are clearly not for small kids. It deals with war, genocide, colonialism, and loss. To name but a few things that most kids in first world countries wouldn't understand. Those are pretty mature themes. And no offense to the creators, but they're kinda being hypocritical getting triggered about it. This is a show where teenagers who have raging hormones. Who are out into the world doing whatever they want. With zero parental supervision. You really think they aren't doing stuff that their parents wouldn't approve of? Case in Point : in the cartoon it's insinuated that Sokka and Suki were having sex. They were sharing the same tent. And Zuko walks in on a half naked Sokka with a rose in his mouth. Being all romantic for Suki. And Ty Lee.......self explanatory. Toph was a single mother in Korra who had daughters from two different fathers. Which a few years ago would have been too controversial for a cartoon. You can't tell me people weren't getting laid in Avatar : The Last Airbender or Legend of Korra. As a matter of fact, sex is a common element in the Avatar Universe because of Romance. The characters at some level always fall in love with someone. Or in the case of Avatar Kuruk, he slept around a lot. Kyoshi is insinuated to be having sex with her girlfriend and bodyguard Rangi. Or Kyoshi's water bending Master Kirima saying that she once "kicked a fire bender out of her bed". Because he kept going on and on about honor. So that's even openly stated there. Hell even Monk Kelsang her Adopted Father, said a nasty song in the first book about jumping into bed with a somebody. They have sex. They just soften it up somewhat to be considered "acceptable". They don't show it on camera. But it's there. It's highly insinuated. Netflix is just being honest. Instead of tip toeing around it. Twinkle toes style.
